Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer Job Description
Lead the mechanical design and development of complex electromechanical products from concept through production launch. Design and develop mechanisms, structures, test fixtures, and full machine or system-level solutions. Manage multiple concurrent engineering projects while meeting technical requirements, cost targets, and schedules. Own the full product development lifecycle including research, concept generation, design, build, test, analysis, and optimization.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain CAD models, assemblies, mechanical drawings, and BOMs using GD&T best practices.
- Perform and interpret FEA to validate structural, thermal, and mechanical performance.
- Drive design for manufacturability, assembly, reliability, and cost across appropriate manufacturing processes.
- Plan and execute verification and validation testing, including fixture design, data acquisition, analysis, and documentation.
- Collaborate closely with electrical, firmware, and software teams to define mechanical interfaces and system architecture.
- Partner with manufacturing, supply chain, marketing, and service teams to develop specifications and resolve design tradeoffs.
- Work directly with vendors and suppliers on component selection, fabrication, and integration.
- Generate and manage ECOs and other engineering change documentation.
- Identify technical risks and drive mitigation strategies throughout development.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers on mechanical design principles, CAD usage, and engineering best practices.
Essential Skills
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.
- 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching complex electromechanical products.
- Strong background in machine design including mechanisms, structures, kinematics, drives, sensors, and component packaging.
- Experience designing precision, reliable mechanisms and assemblies.
- Proficiency in CAD and FEA tools such as SolidWorks (or equivalent).
- Solid understanding of GD&T, mechanical drawings, BOMs, and engineering change processes.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal, casting, injection molding, 3D printing, and assembly methods.
- Experience applying design for manufacturability and design for cost principles.
- Ability to develop new design concepts based on customer feedback, requirements, and pain points.
- Hands-on experience with design verification and testing, including data analysis and reporting.
- Working knowledge of electrical, firmware, and software disciplines sufficient for cross-functional product development.
- Experience working within a formal product development or stage-gate process.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide less experienced engineers.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with mechatronics, mechanism, kinematics, drives, sensors, servos, and actuators.
- Experience in cross-functional collaboration to enhance product development.

Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Norwood, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $140000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. 401k
