Quality Engineer Machining
Objective
This role serves as the primary point of contact with the customer, is responsible for acting as the customer’s voice within the organization, and for ensuring that the customer’s specific requirements are met. The role ensures that external quality objectives and customer scorecard indicators—as well as Nemak’s performance in these areas—remain on target and establishes continuous improvement initiatives.
Main Responsibilities
- Monitoring of customer portals (performance, scorecard, certifications) and management of improvement initiatives
- Handling and responding to customer complaints and field returns within the specified timeframe
- Analyze external scrap trends and establish containment measures and continuous improvement actions
- Lead validations of engineering changes and tooling replacements with the customer until approval (PPAP submission, customer review, and approval)
- Minimize production line downtime with the customer resulting from quality issues
- Ensure the implementation of corrective actions for quality issues with the customer within 24 hours
- Attend scheduled customer meetings at the established frequency
- Lead monthly PFMEA and Control Plan audits
- Develop and implement systemic measures to prevent problems and roll them out across the organization.
Position Requirements
- Quality engineer with experience in automotive machining and machining processes.
- Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in quality assurance for CNC machining processes.
- Knowledge and application of Core Tools
- 8D methodology, 5 Whys, and Ishikawa diagrams.
- Ability to interpret drawings and GD&T.
- Knowledge of IATF 16949 and specific customer requirements (GM, Ford, Stellantis).
- Proficiency in using measurement instruments and analyzing process capability (Cp, Cpk).
- English Advanced
- Proficiency in managing quality metrics.
