As a leader in guest experience, the Housekeeping Supervisor plays a key role in ensuring cleanliness, smooth operation, and attention to detail across the property. This role requires expertise in cleaning techniques, safe equipment and chemical handling, and the ability to assist Rooms Leadership with organizational tasks when needed.
Responsibilities
- Inspect guest rooms, suites, cottages, and public areas to ensure cleanliness, presentation, and overall condition meet Southall’s standards. Oversee and coordinate cleaning assignments for the Rooms and Public Areas teams
- Lead daily pre-shift meetings and coordinate opening procedures, linen and terry distribution, VIP room preparations, and daily housekeeping operations. Monitor team performance and provide coaching or corrective guidance as needed
- Ensure team members consistently follow Southall’s standards, policies, and procedures. Prioritize and assign daily work, monitor progress, and follow up on completed tasks to maintain quality and consistency
- Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of Southall’s room types, layouts, amenities, and configurations. Understand and uphold the specific cleanliness, presentation, and turndown expectations for each accommodation type
- Communicate clearly and professionally with guests, team members, and leadership. Provide direction, respond to questions or concerns, and maintain a welcoming and approachable presence throughout the property
- Lead, mentor, and coach housekeeping team members to foster a positive, collaborative, and service-focused work environment. Encourage teamwork, flexibility, and a willingness to assist across daily operations
- Assist with the movement and handling of linens, supplies, and housekeeping equipment as needed
Requirements
- 1-2 years of previous laundry or housekeeping experience preferred
- Ability to deal with guest and team member concerns in a friendly and positive manner
- Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to understand and communicate with guests and team members; must have excellent telephone etiquette skills
- Considerable knowledge of computer systems for registration, reservations, financial and back-up systems
- Available to work weekends, evenings and/or holidays
- Must be able to walk, stand for prolonged periods as needed
- High School Diploma preferred
- 3–5 years of hotel housekeeping or laundry experience strongly preferred, with experience in a luxury hospitality environment a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with guests, team members, and leadership
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to work efficiently while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and high standards of quality
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including active listening, coaching, adaptability, collaboration, and the ability to effectively guide and support a diverse team
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical duties for extended periods
- Flexible availability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, based on business needs
