Position: Pulmonologist / Critical Care Physician
TDY Medical Staffing is seeking Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Pulmonary/Critical Care Physicians for a federal healthcare contract supporting the VA Central Iowa Health Care System in Des Moines, Iowa .
This is a full-time, on-site opportunity providing comprehensive pulmonary and critical care services to Veterans. The requirement calls for two full-time physicians , each providing approximately 40 hours per week. Des Moines Pulmonary Physician
Schedule & Coverage
Regular outpatient clinic hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM . Physicians will also participate in after-hours pulmonary coverage. After-hours consultation is expected to be approximately 99% telephonic , with a required response within 15 minutes by phone and, when necessary, availability to report onsite within 60 minutes. A typical 40-hour workweek is estimated to include approximately 24 hours of clinical care, 12 hours of procedures, and 4 hours of administrative, meeting, and educational activities . Des Moines Pulmonary Physician
Clinical Responsibilities
The physicians will provide a broad range of pulmonary and critical care services, including inpatient and outpatient pulmonary consultations, critical care, bronchoscopy, oxygen and ventilator management, pulmonary function test interpretation, sleep-study interpretation, overnight oximetry, pre-surgical evaluations, e-consults, home oxygen and ventilator management, and related pulmonary procedures.
The anticipated outpatient workload is approximately 10 patients per clinic day and 15 procedures per week . Des Moines Pulmonary Physician
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must:
- Be Board Certified or Board Eligible through the American Board of Internal Medicine in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care
- Hold a current, full and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state, territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
- Maintain current BLS and ACLS
- Hold a current DEA certificate
- Be eligible for VA credentialing and privileging
- Be able to perform the pulmonary and critical-care procedures required by the position
The VA expressly permits an unrestricted license from any state , so an Iowa medical license is not required for physicians practicing onsite under this contract. Des Moines Pulmonary Physician
Contract Term
The anticipated initial period of performance is:
December 1, 2026 – November 30, 2027
The solicitation also provides for a potential six-month extension through May 31, 2028 . Des Moines Pulmonary Physician
