Office Manager/ Finance Controller (part-time, 28 hours/week)
The Office Manager/ Finance Controller provides essential operational and administrative support for the Business Career Center within the Marriott School of Business. This position oversees the center’s financial processes, human resource functions, office operations, and student employee management. Working closely with BCC leadership and staff, this role helps maintain effective processes, ensure compliance with university policies, and support the center in providing high-quality career development and placement services to BYU Marriott students. This is a 3/4-time (28 hrs./week) non-exempt position.
What you’ll do in this position:
- Manage and oversee department financial activities, including financial analysis, forecasting, expense review, purchasing, account management, and financial reporting.
- Partner with Center Director and Career Managers on annual resource planning, projected expenditures, cost-saving opportunities, and effective use of department funds.
- Monitor financial transactions and internal controls to ensure compliance with university and college policies, identifying potential risks and recommending appropriate procedures or solutions.
- Serve as the department liaison with college and university financial partners, auditors, and other administrative offices regarding financial processes, policies, reporting and compliance.
- Oversee department-level human resources processes, including student hiring, employment changes, timekeeping, onboarding, offboarding, employee access, and related documentation.
- Hire, train, supervise, develop, and evaluate student employees while coordinating student staffing and resources to support the operational needs of the Business Career Center.
- Manage day-to-day office operations, including facilities, equipment, technology needs, supplies, access, maintenance requests, and other resources necessary for effective department operations.
- Collaborate with Business Career Center leadership and staff on department initiatives, professional development activities, operational projects, and other efforts that support the Business Career Center’s mission and services.
What qualifies you for this role:
Required
- A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
- Associate degree or equivalent education (business or a related degree), and 2 years administrative, financial, or office management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite – Excel & Word.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in collaborating across organizations to achieve stated objectives.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree (business or a related degree).
- 5+ years administrative, financial, or office management experience.
- Experience with financial planning and reporting and performing financial/data analysis.
- Existing knowledge of BYU finance and HR systems.

Typical Starting Pay: $28.50 to $37.25 an hour
