Security Software Engineer

We're looking for a Security Software Engineer to help build and secure the systems that establish trust across devices, manufacturing environments, and cloud services. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of software engineering, cybersecurity, hardware security, and infrastructure automation.
## Responsibilities
Design and develop secure software services, automation tools, and provisioning workflows. Build solutions for device identity, certificate management, authentication, and secure communications. Develop and maintain security-focused infrastructure across Linux, cloud, and manufacturing environments. Implement security controls using TPMs, PKI, mutual TLS, hardware-backed keys, and secure boot technologies. Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and manufacturing teams to deliver secure, scalable systems. Troubleshoot complex issues spanning software, operating systems, networks, hardware, and cloud platforms.
## Requirements
5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Proficiency with Python and scripting, plus experience with Go or another systems programming language. Hands-on experience developing and supporting Linux-based systems. Solid understanding of PKI, TLS, certificates, cryptography, authentication, and key management. Experience building APIs, automation tools, infrastructure services, or security-focused applications. Ability to translate security requirements into practical, scalable solutions.
## Nice to Have
Experience with cloud security services (GCP, AWS, or Azure). Knowledge of TPMs, device attestation, secure boot, hardware-rooted identity, or manufacturing security. Experience with containers, Docker, Ansible, CI/CD, or infrastructure automation. Why Actalent?

Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Ottawa, ON.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $80.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Ottawa,ON.
