Software Security Engineer

We are seeking a Software Supply Chain Security Engineer to play a critical role in strengthening the security posture of advanced, next-generation technology platforms. This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of software development, cybersecurity, DevSecOps, and vulnerability management, helping drive secure software practices across complex products and CI/CD environments.
## Responsibilities
Generate, maintain, and validate Software Bills of Materials (SBOMs) using industry-standard frameworks such as SPDX and CycloneDX. Analyze SBOMs to identify security risks, license compliance concerns, and dependency vulnerabilities. Conduct ongoing vulnerability assessments and monitor open-source components for emerging security threats. Prioritize and triage vulnerabilities based on exploitability, business impact, and exposure risk. Drive remediation activities by upgrading, patching, or replacing vulnerable software dependencies. Partner with engineering teams to resolve security issues while minimizing system impact and regression risk. Implement and automate security controls within CI/CD pipelines, including policy enforcement and release gates. Develop risk reports and security metrics for engineering, compliance, and leadership stakeholders. Support security audits, customer inquiries, and compliance initiatives related to software supply chain security.
## Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, DevSecOps, Application Security, or a related field. Hands-on experience creating, analyzing, and managing Software Bills of Materials (SBOMs). Strong experience in vulnerability management, risk assessment, and remediation practices. Experience working with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar platforms. Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Go, C, or C++. Working knowledge of open-source software licenses and compliance considerations (MIT, Apache, GPL, etc.).

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $80.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Ottawa,ON.
