The Role GrizzlyTrek is seeking one Industrial Tank Cleaning Supervisor to join our valued client's team, a leading environmental and industrial services provider, on a short-term project in Calgary, Alberta. This is a hands-on field leadership role overseeing the cleaning of industrial floc tanks using chemical injection, triplex and high-pressure pumping equipment, and vacuum trucks.
We want a supervisor who leads from the field, not from a truck or office, and who has actually run industrial tank, vessel or chemical-cleaning work. Proven experience supervising crews around high-pressure pumps, vacuum equipment, confined spaces and chemical-cleaning systems matters more than having worked on this exact tank configuration. What You'll Do
- Lead the safe execution of industrial floc tank cleaning and supervise operators, technicians and labour crews
- Coordinate chemical injection, high-pressure (triplex) pumping and vacuum truck operations
- Plan daily work, crew assignments and equipment, and run pre-job meetings, FLHAs/JHAs, toolbox talks and inspections
- Confirm hoses, pumps, fittings and safety systems are ready before work begins
- Coordinate tank isolation, access, ventilation and confined-space requirements, including atmospheric testing, breathing air and rescue
- Oversee removal of sludge, slurry, liquids and accumulated solids, and coordinate waste and material transfer
- Troubleshoot pumps, valves, hoses, manifolds and related cleaning equipment
- Keep client site representatives informed, identify hazards, and stop work when conditions cannot be controlled safely
- Complete safety documentation, field tickets, daily reports and crew records, and support mobilization through demobilization
What You Bring
- Minimum 5 years of industrial cleaning, tank cleaning, chemical cleaning, vacuum/hydrovac, hydroblasting or related field experience
- Previous experience supervising or leading industrial field crews
- Hands-on understanding of vacuum truck operations
- Experience with high-pressure pumps, triplex pumps, hydroblasting or pressure-pumping equipment
- Experience working around tanks, vessels or confined-space cleaning operations
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot field equipment
- Experience completing hazard assessments, permits, safety documentation and daily field reports
- Strong communication and crew-leadership skills
- Ability to work extended shifts for the full 2 to 4 week project
- Valid driver's licence
Preferred Qualifications
- Floc tanks, flocculation or solids-control systems
- Drilling-fluid or drilling-mud systems, mud tanks or shale tanks
- Polymer or chemical injection, chemical circulation units, centrifuges and dewatering systems
- High-pressure water jetting, hydroblasting, vacuum trucks or combo units
- Supplied-air or SCBA operations
- Industrial shutdowns and turnarounds in oil and gas, refinery, petrochemical or environmental services
Safety Training Current or recent industrial safety training applicable to the work. Depending on final site requirements, this may include Confined Space Entry / Monitor, First Aid / CPR, H2S Alive, WHMIS, CSO or equivalent site orientation, Lockout/Tagout awareness, respiratory protection and fit testing, and high-pressure water or hydroblasting training. Additional client or site-specific training may be required before mobilization. What We Offer
