Position Title: Training Specialist (503)

Job Description:

This position is in support of the Expeditionary Electromagnetic Warfare Division at NSWC Crane. The Training Specialist will develop and deliver technical training materials, and hands-on training events to ensure military and government personnel are fully prepared to operate and maintain assigned systems. The role requires the ability to translate complex technical concepts into effective instructional content and provide engaging training in classroom, laboratory, and field environments.

Responsibilities:

- Develop, maintain, and deliver technical training curricula—including ILT, CBT, simulator, and interactive courseware—in accordance with Navy training standards and Instructional Systems Design (ISD) methodologies.
- Translate complex engineering concepts into structured lesson plans, student guides, and hands-on exercises to ensure military and government personnel achieve operational proficiency and system comprehension.
- Evaluate training effectiveness through performance testing and metrics, updating materials to integrate new system capability upgrades and ensuring continuous alignment with current system configurations.
- Document all training activities and student metrics while coordinating with government engineers and program managers.
- Obtain sUAS Pilot Certification (Group I/II) and pass an FAA Class III Physical.

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

- Bachelors and six (6) years or more of related experience; Masters and four (4) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience; Equivalent military training instructor experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
7+ years of professional experience as a military instructor, training specialist, or technical trainer supporting DoD programs, with a proven track record of developing curricula, lesson plans, and instructional materials for complex defense systems.

- Possess hands-on technical experience with defense electronics and unmanned systems, demonstrating the technical aptitude to rapidly learn system functionalities and deliver effective classroom and operational instruction to diverse audiences.
- Hold a Group I/II Small Unmanned Aircraft System (sUAS) Pilot Certification and possess the strong presentation, communication, and facilitation skills required to travel up to 50% in support of training events and fielding activities.
