Position Title: Computer Engineer (535)

Position Description:

This position supports the Expeditionary Electromagnetic Warfare division at NSWC Crane. In this role you will design, develop, test, and sustain mission-critical software and firmware for Electronic Warfare (EW) and tactical mission systems. In this role, you will support the full software lifecycle—from initial architecture and algorithm design through laboratory/field testing and modernization of fielded platforms.

Job Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, modernize, and sustain computer software, firmware, algorithms, and applications supporting EW and tactical mission systems across the full software lifecycle.
- Analyze and develop system requirements, performing validation, traceability, risk assessments, and mitigation planning from initial design to final acceptance criteria.
- Execute comprehensive testing—including unit, integration, regression, automated, and IV&V—while maintaining strict traceability between requirements, test procedures, and documented results.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize systems to resolve defects, address cybersecurity vulnerabilities, manage Git-based configurations, and support integration into secure cloud and mission networks.

Education Level:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer, Software or a related technical discipline.

Required Qualifications:

- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, coding, integrating, and maintaining software in a structured environment, with proficiency in Python, C, C++, or Java.
- Proven capability to analyze requirements, perform system-level testing (unit, integration, and IV&V), troubleshoot integrated systems in laboratory environments, and manage git-based version control.
- Strong cross-functional communication skills to collaborate across systems, test, and cybersecurity teams
- Required U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

- Experience supporting Navy or DoD Electronic Warfare (EW) and tactical mission-system software, including lifecycle planning, support activity optimization, and software configuration management.
- Proficiency in advanced engineering and testing methodologies, including automated testing, IV&V, regression testing, requirements/test traceability, software architecture, cloud services, and MBSE environments.
- Demonstrated capability in secure software development, cybersecurity vulnerability remediation, and supporting Government laboratory, field, or training system testing, backed by an active Secret security clearance.
