Commissioning Lead

The opportunity

The Commissiong Lead will work as part of the Urban Utilities program supporting the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the program.

Jour Energy & Utilities business working alongside the delivery team across a portfolio of water/wastewater projects overseeing valves, hydrants, water pump stations, network renewals, water main replacements and more across the greater Brisbane Area.

What you’ll do

- Lead the commissioning phase of projects, ensuring alignment with the overall project schedule and budget.
- Develop and implement commissioning procedures, plans and schedules in collaboration with client and Professional Service Provider (Design) teams.
- Actively participate in the planning and design processes to deliver value for money outcomes and provide critical commissioning input and advice
- Develop commissioning budgets and manage time and cost performance of commissioning work packs
- Oversee and ensure proper testing and validation of systems and equipment according to specifications and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate the final handover of commissioned systems to operations teams, ensuring smooth transition and operational readiness.

What we’re looking for

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Professional certifications in commissioning preferred but not essential
- Leadership qualifications (Frontline Management or the like) highly regarded
- Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in commissioning, preferably within the water industry.
- Strong knowledge of commissioning processes, systems, and equipment.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- In-depth understanding of safety legislation, in particular WHS compliance requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to troubleshooting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively
