About this role
The Manager 2, Training Delivery & Facilitation leads the team of Facilitation Managers, Facilitators, and Training Coordinators who own facilitation standards, quality, and team management within each business unit. This role is the connective layer between the Delivery organization's overall strategy — set by the Group Manager across five pillars (People & Talent, Facilitator Readiness & Certification, Delivery Operations, Quality & Standards, and Metrics & Continuous Improvement) — and consistent, high-quality execution across every business unit.
This is a manager-of-individual contributors role. Success means Facilitation Managers are well-coached, well-supported, and held to a consistent bar, and that facilitation quality, certification, and delivery metrics are strong and improving across every business unit the role oversees.
Responsibilities
TEAM LEADERSHIP & TALENT DEVELOPMENT
- Directly manage and coach a team of Facilitation Managers across business units — setting goals, running 1:1s, conducting performance reviews, and building bench strength.
- Own hiring, onboarding, and career development for Facilitation Managers, Facilitators, and Training Coordinators; ensure consistent hiring bar and competency standards across business units.
- Build a leadership pipeline by identifying and developing high-potential Facilitation Managers and facilitators for future people-leadership roles.
DELIVERY STANDARDS & GOVERNANCE
- Partner with the Group Manager to translate the Delivery organization's five-pillar framework into consistent operating standards, then hold Facilitation Managers accountable for applying them within their business unit.
- Ensure every Facilitation Manager's team meets facilitation quality, certification, and delivery-standard requirements; audit and calibrate across business units to prevent drift.
- Resolve cross-business-unit escalations related to facilitation quality, staffing gaps, or delivery risk, and determine when issues require the Group Manager's involvement.
OPERATIONAL EXECUTION & CROSS-FUNCTIONAL PARTNERSHIP
- Oversee delivery capacity planning and staffing ratios across business units (facilitators, Facilitation Governance/QA leads) in partnership with each Facilitation Manager.
- Partner with instructional design, learning experience, and business-unit stakeholders to align facilitation capacity to program launches and seasonal demand.
- Serve as an escalation point for business leaders on facilitation needs, ensuring rapid, consistent resolution across business units.
DELIVERY GOVERNANCE, RISK & QUALITY
- Maintain delivery risk and issue logs (RAID) across business units; proactively identify, escalate, and mitigate risks to program timelines, staffing, and quality.
- Track and remove cross-business-unit blockers and dependencies that put facilitation delivery, certification, or program launches at risk.
- Build quality gates and readiness checks into the certification and delivery lifecycle so no facilitator or program launches without meeting the bar.
- Report delivery velocity, throughput, and capacity against plan; forecast staffing and budget needs across business units.
QUALITY, METRICS & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
- Aggregate and report on facilitation performance metrics (Kirkpatrick levels, certification rates, learner feedback, delivery KPIs) across business units to the Group Manager and senior stakeholders.
- Drive continuous-improvement initiatives based on data trends, calibration sessions, and input from the Facilitator Community of Practice.
- Ensure Facilitation Managers apply consistent observation, coaching, and evaluation rubrics across their teams.
STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP & COMMUNICATION
- Serve as a key thought partner to the Group Manager in shaping Delivery organization strategy, structure, and staffing model.
- Represent the Delivery organization in cross-functional and leadership forums.
- Communicate delivery performance, risks, and resourcing needs clearly to senior leadership and business partners.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of progressive experience in Learning & Development, training facilitation, or program management, with demonstrated growth in scope and complexity.
- 2+ years of experience managing people managers (manager-of-managers) or leading multiple teams or sites.
- Proven experience overseeing facilitation quality, certification, or delivery standards at scale across multiple teams or business units.
- Track record of coaching managers, managing performance, and building leadership pipelines.
- Strong analytical skills; comfortable using delivery and quality metrics (Kirkpatrick levels, certification rates, attendance, learner feedback) to guide decisions.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including experience partnering with senior business leaders and HR partners.
- Experience operating within a multi-site, multi-business-unit, or blended (in-person/virtual) delivery organization.
- Working knowledge of delivery management practices — RAID logs, dependency mapping, quality gates, and capacity/resource forecasting — and of agile or iterative delivery frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, or similar) as applied to L&D program delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to build high-performing teams by putting the right people in the right roles at the right time, and to articulate a clear vision that drives the team's roadmap.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience.
- Experience managing external vendor or facilitation-partner relationships at a business unit level.
- Experience with LMS/LXP platforms, virtual facilitation tools, and learning analytics dashboards.
- Familiarity with agile/iterative delivery ceremonies and program-tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Smartsheet, or similar) for cross-team roadmap and dependency tracking.
