The impact you’ll make

At Lam, as a Strategic Commodity Manager, you play a crucial role in managing industry suppliers. You’ll develop and implement commodity strategies, align development deliverables, benchmark suppliers, negotiate agreements, and resolve delivery, cost, and production challenges. Navigating a highly visible and dynamic environment, your strategic expertise in implementing initiatives will support commodity availability, quality, and cost to maintain Lam's reliability and competitive edge.

What you’ll do

- Represents global supply chain strategic commodity management by developing and aligning sourcing strategies for critical parts with volume suppliers and establishing supplier categorization.
- Recommends supply chain strategies for critical commodities and technologies, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, insourcing, and partnerships, supported by clear ROI-based proposals.
- Works cross-functionally with product management, engineering, and product group teams on key roadmap objectives and technology developments within the supply chain.
- Develops and maintains supplier core competencies to support local and global business requirements.
- Develops, owns, and actively manages business continuity and supply-demand continuity plans.
- Negotiates contracts, including IP agreements and volume purchase agreements, and identifies and executes pricing inflection points.
- Manages Lam liabilities at suppliers through claims and balance sheet review processes.
- Establishes fair value for part costs and actively negotiates or structures agreements to maintain fair value.
- Develops and owns the execution of cost savings plans, including alternate sourcing, supply chain restructuring, and design-based savings projects in partnership with engineering teams.
- Supports and improves supplier performance through supplier scorecards and quarterly review processes.
- Encourages and coordinates early supplier involvement in new product designs, leveraging supplier expertise to optimize quality, cost, and manufacturability.
- Leads and supports cross-functional commodity management teams to ensure strategic and operational alignment.
- Regularly evaluates cost, technology, and quality performance benchmarks, as well as the risks associated with sourcing strategies.
- Develops and applies a strategic commodity plan to define a preferred supplier base for assigned commodities.

Who we’re looking for

- Minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience; or equivalent experience.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
