IMEG is hiring a Senior Technology Designer in Indianapolis, IN to support large, highly complex projects involving low-voltage technology (ICT) systems in buildings. This role offers either a Technical Path focused on lead design or a Project Management Path focused on managing projects, with minimal support from senior staff.
You will collaborate with engineers and consultants to provide project leadership, technical solutions, and client guidance. Depending on the path, the role includes design, project financial management, mentoring, and cross-functional coordination in education, institutional, and MEP markets.

What You'll Do
Technical Path
- Lead the analysis and design of IT structured cabling, audio/video, security, and other low-voltage building systems.
- Create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and tools in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standards.
- Perform site assessments and generate detailed analysis and technical reports.
- Gather project requirements, communicate technical information, and build client relationships through professional communication.
- Provide in-process design reviews for low-voltage building systems, calculations, and specifications.
- Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure designs and solutions meet company, industry, and client requirements.
- Provide technical training, mentoring, and assistance resolving field issues with minimal support from senior staff.
- Stay current on low-voltage technology engineering trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts.
- Identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with low-voltage technology ICT systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.
- Participate in project interviews and presentations.
OR
Project Management Path
- Coordinate, oversee, and manage projects of varying size and complexity as a primary contact for teams and clients.
- Collaborate with business development staff, Project Executives, Client Executives, and Market Directors / Leaders during initial project-opportunity stages.
- Assist with design scopes of work, fee calculations, proposal generation, and contract reviews.
- Create project schedules with milestone targets and deadlines.
- Create monthly billings, submit financial information to Accounting, and update billing projections and estimated completion percentages.
- Ensure designs meet owner, IMEG, and code requirements, and that quality control, milestone deliverables, and construction technical support are completed on time.
- Coordinate design-staff project scheduling through design and construction phases, and schedule and lead progress meetings with documentation.
- Participate in project interviews and presentations.
- Resolve client and construction concerns, manage change orders, and obtain appropriate approvals.
- Train, mentor, and motivate staff.
- Build, maintain, and develop client relationships.

- Mastery of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
- Mastery of technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles relating to electrical voltage and current, digital and analog signals, basic IT networking topologies and protocols, as it relates to electrical low-voltage systems design for buildings
- Strong training, mentoring and leadership skills
Project Management Path
Required Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated leadership traits in the Project Management career path
- Adept in the technical aspects of one’s discipline
- Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in relating to electrical voltage and current, digital and analog signals, basic IT networking topologies and protocols, as it relates to electrical low-voltage systems design for buildings
- Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
- Strong training and mentoring skills

Education and Experience
Qualifications (one of the following):
Option A
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer or related Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, related STEM field, or equivalent required
- 10 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
OR
Option B
- Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred
- 14 years of experience minimum required, 16 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry

- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
- Must have the ability to travel up to 50%, including local, domestic, and international travel as needed for business purposes, which may include overnight stays and/or air travel
