Position Purpose

The Assistant Store Director supports the Store Director in overseeing all aspects of store operations, including sales performance, customer service, merchandising, labor management, food safety, inventory control, and associate development. This position serves as a key member of the store leadership team and helps ensure the store operates efficiently, profitably, and in compliance with company standards while delivering an exceptional shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities

Store Operations Leadership

- Assist in directing daily store operations to ensure achievement of sales, profitability, and customer service goals.
- Provide leadership and operational oversight for all store departments.
- Support execution of company initiatives, merchandising programs, promotional events, and operational standards.
- Monitor store conditions to ensure cleanliness, organization, and readiness for customers.
- Assist in implementing strategies to drive sales growth and operational efficiencies.

Leadership & Team Development

- Lead, coach, and develop department managers, supervisors, and store associates.
- Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and retention efforts.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, engagement, and customer service excellence.
- Support performance management, succession planning, and talent development initiatives.
- Serve as Manager-on-Duty and assume full store responsibility in the absence of the Store Director.

Customer Service Excellence

- Promote and maintain exceptional customer service throughout the store.
- Respond to and resolve escalated customer concerns promptly and professionally.
- Lead by example in delivering a positive and welcoming customer experience.
- Ensure store teams consistently meet customer service expectations.

Financial & Business Management

- Support achievement of store sales, labor, shrink, and profit objectives.
- Analyze operational and financial reports to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in labor planning, scheduling, and expense management.
- Monitor inventory performance and support shrink reduction initiatives.
- Ensure accurate execution of pricing, promotions, and merchandising programs.

Merchandising & Inventory Control

- Ensure store merchandising standards are executed consistently across all departments.
- Monitor product availability, inventory levels, and replenishment practices.
- Support seasonal merchandising programs and special events.
- Ensure pricing accuracy, signage compliance, and promotional execution.

Safety, Compliance & Asset Protection

- Ensure compliance with all company policies, food safety standards, regulatory requirements, and operational procedures.
- Promote a safe working environment for associates and customers.
- Support loss prevention and asset protection initiatives.
- Assist with internal audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
- Ensure all departments adhere to workplace safety standards.

Community & Team Engagement

- Support community outreach, local marketing initiatives, and store events.
- Build positive relationships with customers, associates, and community partners.
- Promote associate engagement, recognition, and retention programs.
- Support company culture and organizational values.
