About this role
The Energy Department, within ArcelorMittal’s procurement organization, sources electricity, natural gas, industrial gases and liquid fuels. It also supports energy and industrial gas projects by combining market expertise, commercial sourcing and cross-functional coordination.
The team manages market-based and bilateral sourcing across Europe and provides expertise to ArcelorMittal sites on energy procurement, contracting and project development.
Within the department, the Industrial Gases and Liquid Fuels team manages supply contracts and sourcing projects, including bulk and cylinder gases, liquid fuels and on-site Build-Own-Operate projects.
The team works closely with plants, technical experts, finance, legal and suppliers to protect continuity of supply, improve commercial conditions and deliver measurable value.
Therefore, we are looking for a Buyer to manage a defined portfolio of industrial gas and liquid fuel supply contracts across Europe, ensuring timely contract extensions, delivering savings, and leading sourcing processes in coordination with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
Scope, mission and Responsibilities of the candidate
- Contract portfolio management
Manage a defined portfolio of bulk and cylinder industrial gas supply contracts across Europe.
- Manage a defined portfolio of liquid fuel supply contracts across Europe.
- Ensure timely preparation, negotiation and execution of contract extensions to maintain continuity of supply.
- Monitor contractual milestones, expiry dates, commercial conditions and supplier performance.
- Savings and value delivery
Identify, quantify and implement savings opportunities within the assigned portfolio.
- Support demand consolidation, specification optimization and commercial-condition improvements.
- Track negotiated savings and other value contributions in accordance with procurement reporting requirements.
- Tendering and sourcing
Prepare and launch requests for information, requests for quotation and competitive tenders.
- Lead the sourcing process from market assessment and bidder selection through offer analysis, negotiation, recommendation and contract award.
- Develop commercial comparisons and clear recommendations supporting supplier-selection decisions.
- Negotiate prices, contractual terms and service levels with suppliers, with support from relevant internal functions.
- Small on-site BOO projects
Support and manage sourcing activities for small on-site Build-Own-Operate industrial gas projects.
- Coordinate commercial evaluations, negotiations and contracting with technical, operational, legal and financial stakeholders.
- Stakeholder and supplier coordination
Act as the procurement point of contact for assigned categories and projects in cases of contractual disputes and delays of supply.
- During a sourcing project, coordinate activities across plants, technical teams, legal, finance, procurement colleagues and management.
- Manage supplier interactions, follow up agreed actions and escalate risks affecting timing, savings or continuity of supply.
- Maintain clear sourcing documentation, contract records and management updates.
Main characteristics and skills:
- Bachelor/master’s degree in engineering, Economics, Business or a related discipline
- Professional experience in procurement, sourcing, contract management or a related commercial role
- Experience in tendering, offer analysis and commercial negotiation
- Ability to manage multiple contracts, deadlines and sourcing projects in parallel
- Strong analytical skills and confidence working with commercial and cost data
- Ability to prepare clear supplier comparisons and fact-based recommendations
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and disciplined follow-up
- Ability to coordinate effectively across technical, operational, legal, finance and procurement stakeholders
- Commercial mindset with a focus on savings, value creation and continuity of supply
- Ability to work autonomously, take initiative and escalate risks appropriately
- Effective communication and negotiation skills in a multicultural environment
- Fluency in English; French or another European language would be an advantage
- Knowledge of industrial gases, liquid fuels or on-site BOO projects would be an advantage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint; AI-based tools
