Job title - Estimating L ead – Fabrication (Structural steelwork & pipework)

Role Context -

Worley Field S e r vices is seeki n g an experienced Estimating Lead to join the fa b rication team in Grimsby o n a permanent basis. The successful candidate will lead a small estimating department responsible for preparing competitive and accurate estimates for structural steelwork and pipework fa b rication projects, combining strong technical estimating capability with lea d ership, commercial awareness and close colla b oration with operatio n s and clients .

You’ll be –

·          The Lead Estimator is responsible for lea d ing the estimating function, assigning bid packages, prioritising workload and reporting progress to management .   Lea d , mentor and support the estimating team to ensure consistency, accuracy and    timely submission o f bids .

·          Reviewing tender documentation to identi f y commercial risks, exclusions and opportunities.

·          Supporting pricing strategy and bid adjudication with senior management .

·          Ensuring estimates align with o p erational capability, execution approach and commercial o b jectives.

·          Working with subcontractors to prepare and issue RFQ packages for work not performed

·          inter n ally, including defining scope, providing drawings/specifications and required documentation.

·          Developing detailed indirect cost estimates for o n -site and off-site support activities .

·          Completing detailed cost calculations including Indirect, direct labour, materials, rentals, subcontracts and equipment.

·          Determining bid respo n se strategies including schedule a p proach, execution pla n and subcontractor requirements .

·          Gathering, analysing, inputting and compiling information for negotiated work and submit required inputs to Operatio n s .

·          Compiling work packages upon award for shop and site works to enable efficien t handover to delive r y teams .

·          Developing and maintaining stro n g working relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.

·          Responsible for develo p ing and mana g ing estimate plans across plating as the primary discipline, with support to piping estimates as required .

·          Contributing to and overseeing the detailed development o f the estimate s

·          Coordinating with other departments and/or offices as required and conducting estimate reviews with senior management.

·          Preparing and managing estimate/bi d packages, ensuring all required documentation is included.

·          Preparing discipline by discipline quantity tak e - offs (plating/structural fabricatio n and installation as primary; piping materials and installation as secondary

·          Attend site walkarounds with the client to fully understand the pro p osed scope of work.

·          Work with subcontracts to prepare and distribute subco n tractor RFQ packages for work

·          within project scope but not performed internally, including defining the scope o f work, providing drawings, specifications and required documentatio n .

·          Develop detailed indirect estimates, both o n -site and off-site suppor t .

·          Compile work packages, upon successful award for shop and site works Worley is an equal oppor t unity employer .

·          Run weekly Estimating meetings to define outstanding actions, new estimates and discuss current bids and work in partnership with fa b rication worksho p and project s team to discuss upcoming workload.

·          Reporting into the Customer S olutio n s Manager you will produce proposal documentation t o develop a winning bid for Worley Field S e r vices .

·          Be responsible for monthly repor t ing for estimatin g

You’ll have -   
Essential Requirements:

·          Ex p erience leading or mentoring estimating personnel, including allocating packages,

·          prioritising workload and reporting progress .

·          Strong commercial awareness and understanding of fabricatio n project delive r y (shop

·          fa b rication and site installation) .

·          Ability to interpret fabricatio n isometrics, GA drawings and specifications and translate

·          them into accurate cost estimates .

·          Strong communicatio n and stakeholder management skills, including supporting bid

·          a d judications with senior management and interfacing with clients .

·          Detailed understanding and experience in Plating fa b rication activities (prima r y

·          discipline)

·          Excellent Microso f t Office so f tware skills par t icularly in Excel and Wor d

·          Working knowledge of piping sco p e and estimating principles (seconda r y skill set),

·          including interpreting isometrics/piping drawings, specifications and MTOs .

·          Ex p erience in reading drawings and specifications and translating them into cost

·          estimates

·          Detail - oriented, self-motivated, and resourceful, with strong inter p ersonal skill s

·          Strong time management skills and able to mult i -task working on a number of bids .

Desirable:

·          Ex p erience in computerized estimating systems

·          Understanding o f project execution planning and critical path scheduling

·          Mechanical and Structural knowledge is beneficial, including piping experience where available.
