Job Purpose
The Senior Engineering Technician provides advanced technical support to manufacturing engineering teams by leading complex equipment setups, troubleshooting, and process improvement initiatives. This role serves as a subject matter expert in production systems, contributing to the design, validation, and optimization of manufacturing processes. The Senior Engineering Technician mentors junior technicians, ensures compliance with quality and safety standards, and plays a key role in driving operational excellence across the plant.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform and oversee advanced equipment installations, calibrations, and repairs to support production goals and minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with engineers to identify inefficiencies, implement corrective actions, and validate process changes through testing and data analysis.
- Train and guide junior technicians and production staff on equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of technical activities, process changes, and equipment performance.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards and internal procedures.
- Work closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to support new product launches, resolve technical issues, and improve overall manufacturing performance.
Education and Qualifications
- High School Diploma, Trade School, or Associate’s Degree
- 7+ years of experience
Skills
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems used in automotive manufacturing.
- Skilled in identifying complex issues, analyzing data, and implementing effective solutions.
- Ability to lead technical tasks, mentor team members, and communicate effectively across departments.
- High level of accuracy in maintaining records, following procedures, and supporting audits and inspections.
