APM Terminals

•Adhere to company regulations, Code of Conduct, and procurement procedures, upholding organizational values and teamwork principles.
•Comply with labour, general, and industrial HSE rules, staying proactive on HSE during vendor selection, site visits and deliveries.
•Identify, evaluate, and onboard vendors; maintain supplier and user department relationships to ensure accurate technical specifications and sourcing.
•Maintain an updated vendor database and conduct vendor due diligence.
•Review procurement requests for specifications, budget, and approvals.
•Prepare RFQs, RFPs, purchase requests, and comparative statements.
•Identify and source from the appropriate marketplace, obtain competitive quotations, perform price and commercial analysis, and negotiate favorable terms.
•Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier data, and transaction history in IFS ERP.
•Collaborate closely with project teams, engineering, and warehouse to clarify specifications, quantities, and required delivery dates.

About APM Terminals Laldia

APM Terminals is developing a greenfield, standalone container terminal in Laldia, Chattogram, Bangladesh, through a Joint Venture between APM Terminals BV and QNS Container Services Ltd.

The Laldia Terminal project is an important investment in Bangladesh’s port infrastructure and will support the country’s growing trade and logistics ecosystem. As part of this exciting development, we are looking for a Buyer to support procurement activities and ensure the timely and effective sourcing of goods and services required for the organization and its projects.

About the Role

As a Buyer , you will be responsible for managing day-to-day purchasing activities within your assigned category or area of responsibility. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and procurement colleagues to ensure that goods and services are sourced in a timely, cost-effective, and compliant manner.

The role requires strong knowledge of purchasing processes, supplier coordination, stakeholder management, and the ability to independently manage routine procurement activities while seeking guidance on more complex matters.

You will also contribute to project and procurement initiatives by coordinating requirements, monitoring timelines and dependencies, maintaining accurate procurement information, and supporting reporting to relevant stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage day-to-day purchasing activities for assigned goods and services in line with established procurement policies, processes, and guidelines.
- Understand business requirements and work with internal stakeholders to clarify specifications, quantities, delivery requirements, and timelines.
- Source suitable suppliers and obtain, evaluate, and compare quotations in accordance with procurement procedures.
- Support negotiations with suppliers on pricing, commercial terms, delivery schedules, quality, and other relevant conditions.
- Prepare and process purchase requisitions, purchase orders, contracts, and other procurement documentation as required.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services and proactively address delivery or quality issues.
- Maintain effective supplier relationships and support supplier performance monitoring.
- Monitor open purchase orders, delivery commitments, and outstanding procurement activities to ensure timely completion.
- Coordinate procurement activities across multiple requirements and monitor dependencies that may impact project or operational timelines.
- Support project procurement activities by tracking procurement milestones, requirements, and deliverables.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and provide consolidated status updates, spend information, and relevant reports to stakeholders and leadership.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, approval requirements, ethical standards, and applicable local regulations.
- Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes, templates, and ways of working to enhance efficiency and transparency.
- Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Engineering, Project, Legal, and other relevant functions to resolve procurement-related matters.
- Escalate complex commercial, supplier, compliance, or delivery issues to the appropriate procurement or business leader.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the development of procurement best practices.

What You Bring

- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5-8 years of relevant experience in procurement, purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain management.
- Practical knowledge of procurement processes, purchasing procedures, supplier management, and commercial practices.
- Experience working with suppliers and internal stakeholders to deliver goods and services within agreed timelines.
- Ability to evaluate quotations and make recommendations based on price, quality, delivery, specifications, and commercial terms.
- Good understanding of procurement documentation, purchase orders, contracts, and approval processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple requirements and priorities within defined timelines.
- Good communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP/procurement systems.
- Ability to work independently within established policies and guidelines while seeking support for complex or non-standard matters.
- Experience in a project environment, infrastructure, construction, terminal operations, logistics, or other asset-intensive industries will be an advantage.
