What you will do

As an experienced BMS Commissioning Engineer, you will support the commissioning, integration and validation of Building Automation Systems and controls for advanced critical-power and cooling infrastructure for next-generation data centres.

This is a hands-on technical role combining controls commissioning, factory testing, software validation, troubleshooting and integrated systems testing. You will work closely with electrical, mechanical, controls, manufacturing and project teams to ensure systems are safely tested, integrated and proven before handover.

The role offers exposure to complex projects across multiple regions and the opportunity to influence BMS commissioning standards and best practices across the business.

How you will do it

BAS Commissioning & Controls

- Commission and validate BAS/BMS controls from factory testing through final integrated testing.
- Review controls architecture, I/O lists, Description/Sequence of Operation and functional design documentation.
- Perform point-to-point checks, I/O verification and functional performance testing.
- Validate sensors, actuators, valves, VFDs, alarms, interlocks, permissives and control sequences.
- Read, interpret and troubleshoot BMS software/program code and control logic, with the ability to make software modifications where required.
- Troubleshoot controls hardware, software, field devices, networks and third-party system integration.
- Develop, review and execute commissioning and functional test scripts.

Systems Scope

- BAS/BMS controllers and supervisory systems.
- AHUs and CRAHs.
- Chillers, pumps and hydronic systems.
- Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs).
- Rear Door Heat Exchangers (RDHx).
- Direct liquid-cooled racks and associated cooling infrastructure.
- Control valves, actuators, VFDs and instrumentation.
- BAS interfaces with electrical power and critical equipment.
- EPMS, SCADA and third-party system integration.
- BACnet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP and other relevant communication protocols.

Integrated Systems Testing (IST)

- Lead the BAS/controls contribution to integrated systems testing.
- Coordinate with electrical and mechanical commissioning teams during failure-mode and resilience testing.
- Validate controls response during power loss, equipment failure, communications failure and system recovery.
- Verify redundancy, fail-safe operation, alarms and automated recovery sequences.
- Support black-building, power-restoration and client-witnessed testing.

Factory, Site & Regional Support

- Support commissioning activities from factory testing through deployment and handover.
- Review FAT/FWT/SAT and commissioning documentation.
- Witness equipment startup, load testing and integrated testing.
- Provide technical troubleshooting and escalation support to commissioning teams.
- Capture lessons learned and support consistent commissioning standards across projects.

Safety & Compliance

- Ensure safe systems of work for commissioning activities.
- Apply LOTO, switching-authority and permit-to-work requirements.
- Promote a strong commissioning and controls-safety culture.

What we look for

- Relevant BAS/BMS, controls, automation or commissioning experience.
- Practical understanding of HVAC, hydronic and liquid-cooling systems.
- Experience with data-centre cooling equipment such as CRAHs, chillers, CDUs, Rear Door Heat Exchangers and liquid-cooled racks is advantageous.
- Familiarity with I/O lists, Description/Sequence of Operation, P&IDs, controls schematics and commissioning test scripts.
- Ability to read and troubleshoot BAS software/program code and control logic.
- Understanding of BACnet, Modbus and controls network communications.
- Strong systematic troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis capability.
- Data-centre experience is preferred but not essential; experience from mission-critical facilities, industrial automation, manufacturing, pharmaceutical or similar environments will also be considered.
- Relevant controls, automation, electrical or engineering qualification, trade background or equivalent practical experience.
