About this role
About BEAT81
At BEAT81, we're on a mission to revolutionize fitness by merging the best of technology, group training, and expert coaching. As a rapidly growing fitness-tech startup, we empower people across Germany, and soon across Europe, to Sweat Smarter Together. Through innovative group workouts, real-time performance tracking, and gamification, we're transforming the traditional fitness experience into something dynamic, personalized, and impactful.
We're not just building a global leader in fitness and technology; we're building a world-class team. At BEAT81, we value passion, potential, and the power of fresh perspectives.
BEAT81 is coming to Nuremberg! We are opening our first studio in the city in early 2027, with two formats under one roof: RIDE, our indoor cycling experience with real-time heart rate tracking, and BUILD+, our new strength format with Smith machines, barbells and our own weight tracking technology, where members see exactly what they lifted, every set, every session. We are looking for a Fitness Manager to build and develop the coach community that brings both formats to life.
As Fitness Manager you are the quality owner and coach development expert for our freelance coach community in Nuremberg. During the launch phase you work hand in hand with our Expansion team and take over from our Expansion Fitness Manager after a structured onboarding. You work alongside the Studio Manager, who runs the studio day to day, and you are one of the first permanent BEAT81 team members on the ground in a brand-new city.
You will
Coach recruitment and launch support
- Support the launch of our local freelance coach network by coordinating try-outs, launch events and the operational onboarding process for new collaborators during the studio opening phase, for both RIDE and BUILD+.
- Assess readiness and potential of coach candidates together with our Coach Growth team, using our scorecards and format standards, and share structured feedback after every try-out, onboarding session and premiere.
- Help establish a positive local coach network by supporting community initiatives and contributing to a great launch experience in Nuremberg.
Coach quality and format support
- Support format familiarisation: invite freelance coaches to experience BEAT81 sessions and provide them with information and resources on our formats, equipment, safety principles and member experience.
- Support quality standards: observe sessions where appropriate and offer optional feedback and exchange sessions to help freelance coaches understand BEAT81’s fitness, safety and hospitality standards while maintaining their independence in how they deliver their services.
- Gather insights from the studio: collect feedback and perspectives from freelance coaches and members and share relevant observations with the central Fitness and Product teams to help continuously improve our formats and overall member experience.
Coach communication and advocacy
- Act as the local point of contact for general operational questions from freelance coaches and facilitate communication between coaches and the central BEAT81 teams where needed.
- Be the bridge between coaches and HQ: keep daily communication alive (e.g. WhatsApp groups), relay format and product updates to the coach community, and make sure our coaches feel supported and heard.
You have
- Deep group fitness coaching experience at a high standard.
- A strength coaching background: you train with barbells yourself, you are comfortable coaching compound movements (squat, deadlift, press, row) and correcting technique under load, and you hold a recognised personal training or strength qualification.
- Indoor cycling coaching experience is a strong plus; willingness to get onboarded to RIDE is a must.
- Experience in group fitness leadership or working alongside other fitness professionals; you know how to mentor and support coaches.
- Quality-first decision-making: you can distinguish between teachable skills and fundamental competencies, and you enforce standards without eroding trust.
- High emotional intelligence and maturity, with clear, direct and professional communication; you can give and receive tough feedback.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail; you manage multiple priorities on the go and nothing slips through the cracks.
- A hands-on builder mindset: you are excited (not scared) by being one of the first permanent people on the ground in a new BEAT81 city.
- Fluent German and at least B1/B2 English.
- Comfort with a non-traditional schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends when the coaches need you, and with occasional travel to Berlin for format trainings and team events.
Nice to have
- An advanced strength qualification (e.g. CSCS, Olympic weightlifting or powerlifting certification, German A-Lizenz) or a degree in sports science.
- Certified indoor cycling instructor.
- Experience building or guiding high-performing coaching teams.
- Familiarity with fitness-tech, gamification, or boutique fitness concepts.
