About this role
At tbi, we don't need someone to simply manage accounts. We need someone to grow them.
Our merchant partnerships are at the heart of how we grow. As a Key Account Manager, you'll own a portfolio of e-commerce and physical retail partners and work with them to create more value — for their business, their customers and tbi.
You'll combine strong relationships with data, commercial thinking and a constant appetite for finding the next opportunity.
Requirements
• You have a strong track record in Key Account Management, Partnerships, Business Development or Sales, ideally within fintech, payments, e-commerce, retail or consumer finance.
• You're commercially minded. You don't measure a successful relationship only by how satisfied the merchant is — you measure it by the value you're creating together.
• You're comfortable with data and commercial performance. You can look at the numbers, understand what's happening and turn insights into action.
• You understand the mechanics of e-commerce and physical retail — checkout, conversion, basket size, customer acquisition, promotions and the role financing can play in each.
• You're comfortable building relationships with everyone from day-to-day operational contacts to founders and senior commercial decision-makers.
• You're a strong communicator and negotiator who knows how to create partnerships where both sides win.
• You're curious about customers, merchants, competitors and technology — and you're always looking for the next opportunity.
• You take ownership. When something isn't working, you don't simply report the problem or forward an email. You find the right people, push for a solution and follow it through.
• A degree in Business, Finance, Marketing or a related field is useful. Commercial instinct, analytical thinking and a proven ability to grow accounts matter more.
Most importantly, you're not looking for a job where you simply manage accounts. You want to build them.
What you get to do in this role
Own your merchant portfolio. Take responsibility for a portfolio of tbi merchants across e-commerce and physical retail. These aren't accounts to maintain — they're businesses to understand, develop and grow.
Make your merchants grow. Get under the skin of their business. Understand their customers, commercial priorities and pain points, and identify how tbi's financing solutions can help increase sales, conversion and customer acquisition.
Make the numbers move. Know your portfolio inside out. Financing volumes, conversion, average basket, active locations, customer acquisition and revenue aren't just KPIs to report — they're numbers you'll be expected to influence.
Find the next growth opportunity. A signed partnership is only the beginning. Look for ways to increase tbi's share of checkout through better placement, new financing propositions, campaigns, additional stores, e-commerce activation, new product categories and omnichannel opportunities.
Experiment. Learn. Scale. Bring ideas to your merchants. Test new campaigns, promotional financing and customer journeys. Understand what works, learn from what doesn't and scale the winners.
Become the merchant's go-to person at tbi. Build relationships that go beyond day-to-day account management. Understand where your merchants want to go and make tbi part of that conversation.
Bring the market back to us. Know what competitors are doing, what merchants are asking for and how customer behaviour is changing. Turn what you learn into actionable insights for our Product, Marketing and Commercial teams.
Connect the dots. Work closely with Product, Marketing, Risk, Operations and Tech to turn opportunities into reality. Don't just identify what could be better — help make it happen.
Stay curious. Retail, e-commerce, payments and consumer finance move fast. Stay close to what's changing and keep asking one question: How can we make this partnership bigger?
Why tbi?
We're building a different kind of consumer finance business — digital, fast-moving and deeply connected to the merchants we work with.
You'll have the opportunity to work at the intersection of retail, e-commerce, payments and consumer finance, with the freedom to bring ideas, challenge how things are done and see the commercial impact of your work.
If you like ownership, move fast and get excited about turning partnerships into growth, we'd like to meet you.
