The Team You’ll Work With:
The Mayor’s Office of Communications is at the heart of our mission to serve, empower, and represent every resident of New York City. We are responsible for coordinating the citywide communications strategy, including messaging from all city agencies. Our goal is to ensure the administration speaks with one voice, effectively and consistently communicating the Mayor's policies and their impact on everyday New Yorkers.
The Mayor’s Press Office at City Hall is responsible for media monitoring, responding to media inquiries, preparing senior administration officials for media interviews, and planning media events designed to communicate accurate, timely information to the public.
The Mayor’s Office of Research and Media Analysis is responsible for monitoring media coverage related to the city’s policies and operations, and performing research in support of the administration’s broader communications priorities.
The Problems You’ll Solve:
Roles and Responsibilities will include:
- Aide press and comms operations with research needs.
- Produce mayoral transcripts, media vetting, and newsletters.
- Fact-check and rapid-response research, including mayoral speeches and responses to breaking news, emerging issues, and claims about the administration.
- Monitor and leverage external research, including polling, academic literature, think-tank reports, media coverage, and external datasets, to strengthen the administration’s understanding of New York City.
- Monitor news sites and social media in real time and disseminate breaking stories.
- Additional research projects in support of short- and long-term communications needs.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 1-2+ years of experience.

Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
