What you'll do

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you'll develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) patterns, CI/CD pipelines and self-service capabilities across AWS cloud environments, while supporting secure, scalable and resilient data platform services using technologies including Amazon S3, AWS Glue, Lake Formation and Sagemaker unified studio.

You’ll be working on service or change initiatives, ensuring their availability and maintaining, managing and deploying technology infrastructure on behalf of either the function or investment projects. You'll also be working closely with architecture teams to translate agreed designs into secure, scalable and reusable cloud platform solutions

You’ll also be:

- Reviewing deployment documentation for all departmental infrastructure components from application and development
- Providing a base build for the development environment for the system and handover to the application and development teams
- Building the user acceptance testing environment for the system and managing all updates to the departmental infrastructure during the migration phase of the system
- Creating technical test plans and recording results for the infrastructure components, as well as engaging the application and development teams to assist with conducting these tests
- Creating technical implementation plans and running books for system deliveries
- Working across multiple feature teams to promote engineering standards, reusable patterns and Platform-as-a-Product principles

The skills you'll need

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring a strong understanding of infrastructure engineering and how resilient, cost-effective platforms support business and customer outcomes. You'll have experience building and managing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Terraform, alongside cloud-native CI/CD platforms.

You'll also have hands-on knowledge of AWS services including S3, Glue, Lake Formation and Sagemaker unified studio, with an understanding of data governance, security and access management across cloud environments.

You’ll also demonstrate:

- A broad understanding of infrastructure layers or stack, with a broad knowledge across multiple platforms, such as mainframe, middleware, network or deeper specialism
- An understanding of the roadmap of your area of expertise
- The ability to work with design authorities to deploy cost effective and resilient solutions
- Significant experience of contributing to roadmaps and strategies, and working closely with third parties, assuring output and managing performance
- Experience implementing secure, reusable and self-service platform capabilities within cloud environments
- Awareness of emerging data and AI services, such as Amazon Bedrock and SageMaker, and their adoption within secure and governed enterprise platforms
- Good collaboration and influencing skills
