About this role

About Xace

Xace is a global, multi-licensed finance infrastructure group, providing business accounts, international payments, cards, treasury, FX, safeguarding and financial technology to companies operating worldwide.

Originally built for the iGaming sector, the Xace Group works with more than 1,000 brands, including the industry's leading names.

Xace's technology arm delivers market-leading, module-based technology with hundreds of features, designed for multiple industries and used by other regulated fintechs.

The role

We are looking for a PayOps / Finance Ops Associate to join our Finance and Operations team and help keep Xace's payment and financial operations running accurately, efficiently and under control.

The role sits close to the operational reality of moving money across multiple banking partners, currencies, entities and payment rails. You will be responsible for the day-to-day processing, monitoring and reconciliation of financial activity, making sure transactions are correctly executed, recorded and resolved when something doesn't look right.

You'll work across payments, treasury, finance and operations — from investigating a failed customer payment and reconciling a bank statement, through to supporting safeguarding, settlement and month-end processes.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with numbers, systems and operational detail, and who wants to develop deeper expertise in payments, treasury and fintech.

Key responsibilities

- Process and monitor day-to-day payment activity across multiple banking partners, currencies and payment rails

- Perform daily reconciliations across bank accounts, internal ledgers and payment platforms, investigating and resolving discrepancies

- Monitor incoming and outgoing payments and identify failed, delayed, duplicated or incorrectly processed transactions

- Investigate payment exceptions and work with internal teams and banking partners to resolve issues within agreed timelines

- Support daily safeguarding reconciliations and ensure discrepancies are identified, investigated and escalated promptly

- Assist with cash movements between banking partners, including preparing and checking transfers in line with internal controls

- Support SEPA and other payment-rail operations, including settlement monitoring, reconciliation and exception handling

- Reconcile customer activity against contractual fees and investigate billing or fee discrepancies

- Maintain accurate operational records and supporting documentation for payments, reconciliations and cash movements

- Prepare daily and periodic finance operations reports covering cash positions, reconciliations, payment exceptions and outstanding items

- Support month-end close activities, including reconciliations, journal support and investigation of aged balances

- Work closely with Treasury, Finance, Compliance, Customer Operations and Technology to resolve operational issues

- Support the onboarding and testing of new banking and payment partners from an operational perspective

- Identify recurring operational issues and suggest improvements to processes, controls and reporting

- Follow documented procedures and maintain a high standard of operational control across all financial activity

What you'll bring

- 1–3 years' experience in payments operations, finance operations, banking operations, treasury operations or a similar role

- Experience working with financial transactions, reconciliations or payment processing in a high-volume environment

- Strong understanding of payment flows and the importance of accurate transaction and ledger data

- Comfortable working across multiple bank accounts, entities and currencies

- Strong Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables and working with large datasets

- Good numerical and analytical ability, with a strong eye for discrepancies and anomalies

- Experience using finance, banking, payment or reconciliation systems

- Comfortable investigating problems across multiple systems and following a transaction from initiation through to settlement

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly when dealing with internal stakeholders and external banking partners

- Ability to work accurately under time pressure and manage multiple operational priorities

- A genuine interest in payments, fintech, treasury and financial infrastructure

What we're looking for in you

- High attention to detail: You understand that a small discrepancy can represent a much larger operational or financial issue.

- Ownership: You don't just flag problems — you investigate them, follow them through and make sure they get resolved.

- Operational mindset: You enjoy getting into the detail and making sure things happen correctly every day.

- Problem-solver: When a payment doesn't reconcile, you want to understand why rather than simply move it to an exception queue.

- Reliable under pressure: Payment operations can be time-sensitive. You stay organised and focused when priorities change.

- Systems-oriented: You're comfortable moving between banking platforms, internal systems, spreadsheets and reporting tools to understand what's happening.

- Continuous improvement: You notice repetitive manual work and recurring issues and look for ways to make the process better.

- Collaborative: You can work effectively across Finance, Treasury, Operations, Compliance and Technology.

A significant advantage

- Experience in a regulated payments, e-money, banking or fintech environment

- Experience with SEPA or other international payment rails

- Familiarity with safeguarding or client-money requirements

- Experience with payment service providers, banking APIs or payment platforms

- SQL, Power BI or other data-analysis experience

- Experience working with multi-currency accounts or FX transactions

- Experience with finance systems, ledgers or reconciliation tooling

- Interest in progressing towards treasury, payments or finance systems roles

What we offer

- Hands-on experience across payments, treasury and financial operations within a regulated fintech group

- Exposure to a large, multi-jurisdiction book of business accounts and multiple banking partners

- Direct interaction with Finance, Treasury, Operations and Technology teams

- The opportunity to develop expertise across payments, safeguarding, reconciliation, FX and treasury

- Career progression across the Xace Group and its different finance and technology functions

- A role with genuine ownership and visibility across the financial infrastructure of the group
