Overview
Altorfer Rents is seeking a Vice President to lead the rental division's strategy, operations, financial performance, and customer experience. This leader will guide the management team, driver profitable growth and market share, and use financial, operational, and customer data to improve performance. The role works closely with Altorfer divisions and Caterpillar prepresentatives to deliver strong results across equipment rentals, parts, service, and sales.
Basic Duties
- Responsible for the leadership, overall management, results and customer service of the Altorfer Rents Division.
- Reponsibe for driving profitable growth while maximizing market share.
- Ensure employees, customers and visitors follow safe work practices and expectations.
- Develop and execute short and long range plans in support of Altorfer strategic initiatives.
- Provide strategic direction, market analysis, business planning and operational oversight to the management team.
- Work in unison with other Altorfer divisions and Caterpillar representatives.
- Drive performance improvement across the organization by positive motivation and identifying ineficiencies.
- Review and analyze financial, operational, marketing, staffing, and customer data.
- Represent the company during collective bargaining and work to resolve any grievences as necessary.
- Resolve customer service issues as needed.
- Continually improve and reinforce teamwork while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Effectively communicate with and accept feedback from Altorfer leadership and the Board of Directors.
- May perform other related duties as requested and/or assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma and 2 year college degree.
- 10 years of upper management experience in the rental services industry.
- Experience with negotiating and administering collective bargaining agreements.
- Proven ability to successfully manage people and teams.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills (written, e-mail, and verbal) are required.
- Strong understanding of the relationship between Equipment Rentals, Parts, Service, and Equipment Sales.
- Proven ability to profitably manage inventory with a strong understanding of utilization metrics.
- Ability to express ideas and influence others in a positive manner.
- Must have a good understanding of Caterpillar and Allied equipment typically found in the rental industry.
- Advanced understanding of financial reporting (P/L statements and Balance sheets) and financial analysis.
- Ability to think strategically and make decisions with ambiguous data.
- Excellent planning & organizational skills.
- Proven ability to take the initiative, be team oriented and willingness to adapt to change.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends with 35-60% travel, occasionally overnight.
- Must have general computer literacy with good knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and Power Point.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record (Motor Vehicle Record search will be performed on final candidate). Must be able to meet company requirements for auto insurance coverage.

Payrate:$200,000-$300,000 Annually

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
This position works in an office environment with occasional travel to customer jobsites. A professional appearance is a must. May on a continuous basis, sit at a desk for a long period of time; answer telephone calls and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. May on a continuous basis be on the shop or warehouse floor supporting service and parts operations. Noise level in the shop environment is usually moderate, and the noise level in the office and warehouse environment is usually low. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. Occasional overnight travel may be required via motor vehicle or airplane.
