Your Role: Director - HSE

As Director – Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), you will lead the Elwood, KS site in achieving the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental excellence. In this role, you will be responsible for integrating robust HSE programs into daily operations, partnering with global stakeholders to drive strategic alignment, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement that balances regulatory compliance with operational flexibility.

Your Responsibilities:

- Lead and mentor the site HSE team, building and adapting the organization to align with plant and corporate strategies while establishing clear goals and performance expectations.
- Develop tools and strategies that enable the facility to clearly demonstrate compliance while satisfying operational needs in a flexible, seamless manner.
- Partner with corporate and global resources to bridge organizational silos, leveraging the Elanco matrix to engage stakeholders and create collaborative solutions for the Elwood plant.
- Interpret complex regulatory and corporate requirements, translating them into sustainable process improvements that integrate effectively onto the operating floor.
- Oversee site environmental programs, including wastewater treatment and sustainability initiatives, while utilizing project management methodologies to drive large-scale HSE improvements.

What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Engineering, Sciences, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in health, safety, and environmental management within a manufacturing environment, including a proven track record of building and adapting HSE organizations.
- Top Skills: Strong project management expertise and the ability to work constructively and calmly in a fast-paced environment while leveraging matrixed relationships to drive results.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications):

- Proven ability to build HSE programs from the ground up that integrate seamlessly with shop-floor operations.
- Expertise in wastewater treatment plant operations and environmental permit management.
- Professional certification such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager), or CEP (Certified Environmental Professional).
- Experience in environmental engineering, process engineering, or process safety within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to navigate corporate-to-site dynamics and bridge organizational barriers to leverage differences of opinion for better solutions.
