How you will contribute

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Quality Checker position in the Global Coatings Division. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will have an aptitude for using measuring devices, attention to detail and the ability to communicate inspection results. A thorough understanding of inspection techniques, and the materials, gauges, tools and equipment of the trade. Additionally, you will…

- Inspects galvanized product to insure conformance to company and customer standards. Tests coating thickness of product with properly calibrated thickness gauge and records on form.
- Inspects galvanized or coated products using fixed and variable measuring instruments
- Inspects for irregularities in coatings; non-coated areas, icicles, drips, zinc build up, ash or other foreign matter on the freshly galvanized or coated products.
- Compares product count with productions schedule to insure finished product matches customer count.
- Responsible for rejecting product that does not meet customer and company standards
- Able to work independently
- Excellent communication skills
- Occasional travel offsite to customer
- Maintains a clean and hazard-free workplace; protects self and others from accident and injury.
- Exhibit excellent safety practices and behaviors and follows the intended purposes of Valmont safety policies and procedures

Required Qualifications

- The ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment
- Must have a high awareness for safety at all times
- The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
- The ability to identify and communicate product problems to departmental supervision
- The ability to work in extreme temperatures and conditions
- Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Highly qualified candidates will also possess:

- One year of previous experience in a manufacturing and fabrication environment
- One year of previous experience in a quality control or related position
- One year of previous experience with operating hand and/or power tools
- The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers and customers in a positive manner
- The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues
