Data Center Field Quality Assurance Manager

Job Summary: The Data Center Field Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for driving installation quality, technical standards, and field execution consistency across data center deployment projects. This role oversees quality assurance processes for rack and stack, low voltage, fiber, electrical, and MEP installations while supporting technician development, field training, deployment readiness, and customer quality expectations. The position serves as a field-based technical resource responsible for auditing installation practices, reducing rework, enforcing standards, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across multiple deployment teams and project sites.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
•    Define, implement, and maintain installation quality standards across data center deployment projects 
•    Conduct onsite quality assurance audits and field inspections for rack and stack, low voltage, fiber, electrical, and MEP installations 
•    Establish hold points, inspection processes, and turnover readiness standards 
•    Enforce installation standards related to labeling, cable routing, rack installation, containment, grounding, bonding, torque specifications, testing parameters, and documentation 
•    Drive zero-defect installation practices and reduction of punch list and rework items 
•    Develop training curriculum, installation procedures, job aids, field guides, and technical best practices 
•    Deliver hands-on installation and technical training to field personnel 
•    Evaluate technician competency and support field development initiatives 
•    Support crew leadership, project planning, quality issue resolution, and technical troubleshooting efforts 
•    Coordinate with project managers, field leadership, customers, subcontractors, and deployment teams to ensure installation quality and project readiness 
•    Conduct field audits and corrective action reviews to address installation deficiencies and drive continuous improvement 
•    Support onboarding and technical development of new hires 
•    Maintain deployment playbooks, standards documentation, inspection checklists, and quality reporting tools 
•    Monitor and report quality metrics including punch list volume, rework percentage, installation compliance scores, labeling accuracy, and acceptance rates 
•    Monitor and report training metrics including technician certification progress, installation consistency, QA findings reduction, onboarding effectiveness, and technician retention trends 
•    Support multi-row deployments, multi-site deployments, and large-scale rack build activities across active data center environments 
•    Attend project meetings and provide quality and deployment readiness updates to internal and external stakeholders 
•    Follow all Company safety policies, customer site requirements, and established safe work practices at all times 
•    Maintain clean and organized work areas 
•    Accurately complete and submit administrative records, reports, and required documentation in a timely manner 
•    Travel regularly to job sites, which may include overnight stays 
•    Other duties as assigned

Education: Associate degree in a related field, technical training, and/or industry certifications
 
Experience: 
•    Five or more years of experience in data center deployment, structured cabling, electrical installation, commissioning, or related mission-critical environments 
•    Experience supporting rack and stack, fiber, low voltage, electrical, or MEP installation projects 
•    Experience conducting field quality audits, inspections, or technical training 
•    Experience working in hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise data center environments 
•    Experience supporting multi-site or large-scale deployment projects 
 
Technical Skills:
•    Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency 
•    Strong understanding of data center installation practices and deployment standards 
•    Knowledge of rack and stack, structured cabling, fiber optic systems, electrical distribution, and containment systems 
•    Understanding of cable routing, labeling standards, grounding/bonding, torque specifications, and documentation requirements 
•    Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, one-line diagrams, floor plans, and installation documentation 
•    Knowledge of installation quality assurance processes and inspection procedures 
•    Understanding of commissioning readiness and turnover requirements preferred 
•    Familiarity with data center safety standards and energized work practices 
•    Ability to develop procedures, standards documentation, and training materials

Physical Requirements: 
•    Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing
•    Must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets Company requirements
•    Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly 
•    Ability to stand, bend, climb, and work overhead for extended periods
•    Ability to safely use ladders, lifts, and basic hand tools  
•    Ability to work in active construction and live data center environments
•    Ability to wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE)
•    Ability to work long and unpredictable hours and flexible schedules, including nights and weekends as required 
•    Ability to travel regionally and nationally up to 75% of the time
