About the role:

As a key member of our Strategy team, you will help shape the future direction of National Gas in an increasingly uncertain and fast-changing environment. The role combines corporate strategy development, strategic insight and executive decision support, helping the business navigate uncertainty arising from changes in energy markets, policy, technology and geopolitics while continuing to deliver energy security and enable a low-carbon energy system.

Key accountabilities:

- Corporate strategy development: Develop corporate strategies and recommendations for Executive and Board audiences, combining clear storytelling with robust analysis and insight.

- Strategic insight and decision support: Provide strategic insight and decision support to the Strategy Director, Executive team and wider business on critical strategic questions.

- Navigating uncertainty and external change: Monitor developments in energy markets, regulation, technology, consumer and geopolitics, assessing implications for the company and identifying strategic opportunities and risks.

- Strategic projects: Lead and deliver high-value strategic projects that shape business priorities, investment decisions and future direction.

- Cross-functional leadership: Build relationships across the organisation, bringing together expertise from different teams to develop aligned recommendations and drive delivery of strategic outcomes.

About you:

- Degree educated (or equivalent professional experience) with significant experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, business development or a related strategic role.

- Experience developing strategic recommendations and business cases for senior stakeholders.

- Understanding of energy market, policy and regulatory dynamics preferred.

- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments and structure complex problems into clear, actionable recommendations.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to derive simplicity from complexity.

- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage individuals at all levels of the organisation.

- Ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outputs in a fast-paced environment.

- Self-starter with a proactive approach and a strong focus on outcomes.

- Highly proficient in PowerPoint and Excel, with the ability to develop compelling executive-level materials.

- £75,000 - £80,000 (dependant on experience)
