O&M High Voltage Engineer – Substations

## Your mission
We are looking for an O&M High Voltage Engineer – Substations to join Elawan Energy’s Corporate O&M team, providing specialised technical support for the electrical infrastructure across an international portfolio of renewable energy assets.

The role will cover substations, transmission lines, protection and control systems and associated electrical infrastructure, supporting technical standards, asset management and the acquisition, construction, commissioning and operation of new assets.

Occasional travel to the company’s sites will be required.
Main Responsibilities:

- Act as the corporate technical reference for the company’s electrical infrastructure, including MV/HV substations, transmission lines, protection and control systems, communications, SCADA, SAS, RTU and other electrical systems associated with renewable energy assets.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of electrical infrastructure across the portfolio, driving improvements in reliability, availability and safety, while promoting technical standardisation across countries and technologies.
- Manage the technical and operational aspects of substations and shared grid connection facilities, coordinating operating procedures, technical meetings, budgets, maintenance activities and relationships with other connected users.
- Act as the technical point of contact with grid operators and distribution companies (TSO/DSO), coordinating switching operations, incidents, work permits, energisations, new connections and regulatory requirements.
- Manage contractors carrying out protection studies, relay coordination and protection and control system reviews, ensuring compliance with grid connection requirements and Grid Codes.
- Analyse complex electrical events, protection trips, grid disturbances and operational incidents, using event records and monitoring systems to lead Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and corrective action plans.
- Coordinate work on high-voltage installations, including isolation, switching and operational procedures, promoting the highest electrical safety standards.
- Support the definition of technical specifications, tender processes, bid evaluations and contract management for electrical infrastructure and specialised services.
- Provide technical support during the development, construction and commissioning of new projects, including design reviews, FAT/SAT, energisation, technical due diligence and asset acquisitions.
- Oversee power quality, reactive power, voltage regulation, harmonics and regulatory compliance, ensuring alignment with system operator requirements.

## Your profile
Education:

- University degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering with a specialisation in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- A Master’s degree in Power Systems, High Voltage Engineering or Renewable Energy is desirable.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the engineering, operation or maintenance of electrical substations and high-voltage transmission infrastructure.
- Experience in protection and control systems, testing, commissioning and electrical incident analysis is desirable.
- Experience in shared substations, coordination with grid operators and Grid Code compliance is desirable.

Technical Knowledge:

- Knowledge of protection and control systems, relay coordination and protection settings.
- Knowledge of power quality, voltage regulation and grid connection requirements.
- Familiarity with SCADA, SAS, RTU, communication protocols and monitoring systems.
- Ability to interpret event records, oscillography data and electrical disturbances, with knowledge of applicable high-voltage regulations.
Languages & Other Skills:
- English B2–C1 level; additional languages are desirable.
- Strong analytical, communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive and results-oriented approach.
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
