Job Title: Pharmacist Job Description
This role is responsible for leading the continuation of pharmacy management goals and objectives within a high-volume dispensing pharmacy. The Pharmacist provides routine and emergency comprehensive drug screening, information processing, and accurate dispensing services across various drug distribution systems. The position requires strong management skills, exceptional accuracy, and a commitment to safety to ensure that the appropriate drug products reach patients efficiently and reliably.
Responsibilities
- Execute day-to-day pharmacy operations to meet workflow requirements, production quotas, and deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
- Ensure full compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations governing the practice of pharmacy, including adherence to the strictest applicable DEA policies and procedures.
- Maintain compliance with all third-party payer contract rules and regulations that govern pharmacy operations.
- Supervise pharmacy production staff to ensure accurate order entry, efficient workflow, secure handling of medications, and adherence to delivery schedules.
- Verify completeness and accuracy of all new and refill prescriptions, labels, and orders prior to dispensing.
- Check the content and accuracy of all drug packaging and labeling to ensure correct medications, dosages, and instructions.
- Prepare and/or supervise the preparation of all sterile IV drug products and solutions in accordance with applicable standards and protocols.
- Assist with the proper ordering, handling, receiving, documentation, and storage of all controlled substances.
- Help maintain a perpetual inventory for Schedule II drugs and support accurate controlled substance recordkeeping.
- Provide evening, weekend, and holiday coverage as part of the scheduled on-call rotation and as required by management.
- Ensure the workflow dashboard is cleared daily so that all orders and tasks are completed within expected timeframes.
- Follow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA, to protect patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Work overtime, holidays, and weekends as required or expected to meet operational needs.
- Comply with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code.
- Provide employees with timely, candid, and constructive feedback to support performance and development.

Essential Skills
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited School of Pharmacy.
- Current license to practice pharmacy in good standing.
- Proficiency in clinical interpretation, including drugdrug, drugdisease, drugfood interactions, and allergy considerations.
- Experience in retail pharmacy, health care, or pharmacy benefits management environments.
- Proficiency in drug dispensing, fulfillment, and inventory management processes.
- Ability to perform accurate and efficient dispensing of prescription medications.
- Strong data entry skills with attention to detail in processing prescriptions and related information.
- Ability to handle prior authorization processes and related pharmacy benefit activities.
- Customer service skills with the ability to support patients, providers, and internal teams professionally.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with well-developed verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Effective multitasking skills to manage multiple responsibilities in a high-volume setting.

Work Environment
This role is based in a dispensing pharmacy environment that supports high-volume prescription processing and drug distribution. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 5:30 PM to 2:00 AM, with rotation through every fourth weekend. The weekend shift runs from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM. Team members may sit or stand for 7 to 10 hours per day and may occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, walk, or crawl intermittently. Extended hours may be necessary based on operational needs, and overtime, holidays, and weekends may be required or expected. Employees may lift and move up to 25 pounds as part of routine duties. The work environment requires adherence to departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code, and involves consistent compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements while working with pharmacy technologies, dispensing systems, and inventory management tools.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $65.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
