Job Summary
The QA/QC Manager is responsible for leading and managing quality assurance and quality control programs across assigned projects, business operations, fabrication activities, and field execution environments. This position ensures that work is performed in accordance with company quality standards, customer specifications, contract requirements, applicable codes, and operational expectations while promoting workmanship excellence, consistency, and continuous improvement.
The QA/QC Manager serves as the operational leader for quality execution and is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality systems, inspection programs, testing protocols, documentation standards, and corrective action processes that support successful project delivery and customer satisfaction. This role partners closely with Project Management, Superintendents, Operations Leadership, Engineering, Prefabrication, Safety, and customers to proactively identify quality risks, reduce rework, improve operational performance, and strengthen overall project outcomes.
The position provides leadership and oversight for QA/QC personnel, field inspections, turnover documentation, audits, and quality performance initiatives while ensuring quality expectations are embedded throughout project planning, procurement, fabrication, installation, commissioning, and project closeout activities. The QA/QC Manager plays a key role in driving accountability, operational discipline, and a culture of quality across assigned operations and projects.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
Tasks may include, but are not limited to the following:
· Lead and manage quality assurance and quality control programs across assigned projects, business units, fabrication operations, or field activities.
· Develop, implement, and maintain project and operational quality plans, inspection procedures, testing requirements, and quality documentation standards.
· Provide leadership, direction, and oversight for QA/QC Coordinators, Specialists, Technicians, Inspectors, and project-based quality personnel.
· Coordinate inspections, testing activities, commissioning support, and turnover requirements to ensure compliance with contract specifications and company quality standards.
· Conduct and oversee quality audits, field observations, and compliance reviews to verify workmanship and operational consistency.
· Lead investigations related to nonconformance issues, customer concerns, rework events, and quality deficiencies while implementing corrective and preventive actions.
· Monitor and analyze quality metrics, punch list trends, turnover performance, inspection findings, and rework data to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
· Partner with Project Managers, Superintendents, Engineering, and Operations Leadership to proactively address quality risks and execution challenges.
· Support customer inspections, owner reviews, engineer evaluations, and third-party testing or compliance activities.
· Ensure quality documentation, inspection records, testing reports, and project closeout packages are completed accurately and maintained in accordance with project and company requirements.
· Develop and support quality training, field coaching, and workforce development initiatives related to quality expectations and workmanship standards.
· Provide quality reporting, project status updates, and strategic recommendations to Operations and Quality Leadership.

Supervisory Responsibilities
· Provides leadership, direction, and oversight for QA/QC Coordinators, Specialists, Technicians, Inspectors, and project-based quality personnel.
· Responsible for staffing, scheduling, performance management, coaching, and employee development within assigned quality operations.
· Establishes quality expectations, accountability standards, and performance objectives for quality personnel.
· Partners with Operations and Project Leadership to support workforce planning and quality resource allocation.
· Supports succession planning, workforce capability development, and continuous improvement within the quality function.
Requirements

Work Environment:
· Work is performed in a combination of office, fabrication, warehouse, and active construction project environments.
· Regular interaction with Project Managers, Superintendents, Field Leadership, Engineering, Prefabrication, customers, inspectors, subcontractors, and Operations Leadership is required.
· Position routinely supports field operations and requires regular presence at project sites, fabrication facilities, and operational locations to oversee inspections, quality programs, testing activities, and project execution.
· Project site exposure may include commercial, industrial, healthcare, manufacturing, infrastructure, and mission critical/data center construction environments in various stages of construction, startup, and commissioning.
· Field and operational environments may involve exposure to construction equipment, energized systems, elevated work areas, confined spaces, noise, dust, vibration, weather conditions, and changing site conditions.
· Position may require entry into active construction areas and operational facilities while maintaining compliance with company safety policies, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
· Frequent travel may be required between project sites, branch locations, fabrication facilities, and customer locations to support quality oversight, audits, inspections, and operational initiatives.
· Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when visiting project sites, fabrication facilities, or field environments. PPE may include hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, high-visibility apparel, fall protection, and safety footwear as applicable.

Typical Schedule/Shift Details:
· This position typically operates during standard business hours; however, schedules may vary based on project demands, operational priorities, customer requirements, and business needs.
· Regular workdays are generally Monday through Friday, with flexibility required to support field operations, project schedules, inspections, audits, and quality-related initiatives.
· May require early mornings, evenings, weekends, or extended hours to support project execution, inspections, commissioning activities, customer requirements, or critical operational events.
· Position may require frequent travel between project sites, fabrication facilities, branch locations, and operational offices depending on assigned responsibilities and organizational needs.
· Work schedules may fluctuate based on project milestones, startup and turnover activities, staffing requirements, construction sequencing, and operational priorities.
· Field presence may be required outside of normal office hours to support quality oversight, project execution, and operational objectives.
Overtime Expectations:
· This position is classified as exempt and is not eligible for overtime pay in accordance with applicable federal and state laws.
· Additional hours may be required based on business needs, project demands, operational priorities, and leadership responsibilities.
· Position may require extended work hours, early mornings, evenings, weekends, or travel to support project execution, inspections, audits, commissioning activities, customer commitments, or time-sensitive quality matters.
· Work hours may increase during periods of heightened project activity, project turnover, startup or commissioning efforts, organizational initiatives, or critical operational events.
· Leadership positions are expected to maintain the flexibility necessary to effectively support project operations, quality objectives, and overall business requirements.
Required Education and Experience
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, Quality Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
· Equivalent combinations of education, technical training, military experience, and progressively responsible industry experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
· Technical coursework or advanced training related to electrical systems, construction quality, commissioning, inspections, project management, or continuous improvement methodologies is considered beneficial.
· Ongoing professional development and industry training related to quality systems, leadership, operational excellence, and construction management is encouraged.
Certifications/Licenses:
· Relevant quality, construction, safety, or project management certifications are preferred and may include:
o OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification or equivalent safety training
o Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), or related quality certifications
o Quality Management, Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement certifications
o Commissioning, testing, or inspection-related certifications as applicable
o Project Management Professional (PMP) or related project leadership certifications considered beneficial
· Electrical industry, construction, or trade-related certifications are considered advantageous.
· Valid driver’s license with the ability to maintain insurability under company standards may be required based on travel and operational responsibilities.
· Additional customer, project-specific, safety, commissioning, or site-required certifications may be required depending on assigned work locations and business needs.
Experience Requirements:
· Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in quality assurance, quality control, construction operations, electrical construction, commissioning, manufacturing, or related technical environments required.
· Minimum of 3 years of leadership, supervisory, or quality program management experience preferred.
· Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, or managing quality assurance and quality control processes, inspection programs, or operational quality initiatives.
· Experience supporting commercial, industrial, mission critical/data center, manufacturing, or complex construction projects preferred.
· Strong working knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, contract requirements, inspection procedures, and quality documentation systems.
· Experience leading or coordinating inspections, testing activities, commissioning support, turnover documentation, punch list management, and corrective action processes preferred.
· Experience investigating quality deficiencies, nonconformance events, customer concerns, or rework issues while implementing corrective and preventive actions.
· Experience working collaboratively with Project Managers, Superintendents, Engineering, Operations, customers, inspectors, and field personnel in fast-paced project environments.
· Experience managing multiple projects, priorities, quality personnel, or operational responsibilities with strong organizational and leadership skills.
· Electrical construction, mission critical/data center, industrial construction, or related technical industry experience strongly preferred.
