Position Summary

The Student Accounts Manager/ Bursar is responsible for overseeing student billing operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of all student account transactions, and maintaining compliance with institutional and regulatory standards. This role serves as the primary point of contact for student financial inquiries and plays a key role in supporting the school’s financial integrity and student experience.

Key Responsibilities

- Accurately post all incoming funds including financial aid disbursements, cash payments, refunds, and third-party sponsorships
- Manage student payment plans, monitor due dates, and follow up on outstanding balances
- Collaborate with third-party collections agencies when necessary
- Process cash and credit card payments; reconcile and balance daily cash drawer
- Review and reconcile student accounts regularly, identifying and resolving discrepancies
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation for audits and compliance
- Serve as the primary point of contact for student billing inquiries and account support
- Partner with Financial Aid to ensure proper application of funds and loan disbursements
- Generate periodic financial reports for leadership
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations
- Support audit preparation, accreditation requirements, and reporting standards
- Coordinate with finance teams on 1098-T processing
- Assist with student registration and orientation by explaining financial obligations
- Support month-end close activities
- Act as a liaison and ambassador for Apex Technical School
- Contribute to team success through collaboration, adaptability, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3–5 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or student accounts
- Experience in higher education or career technical schools strongly preferred

Technical Skills

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with School Information Systems (Anthology/Ellucian preferred)
- Familiarity with Google Classroom, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams
