About this role
Duties:
- Ministry Program Strategy and Oversight Develop, implement, and evaluate ministry program strategies across virtual, hybrid, and in-person formats
- Establish operational priorities and determine appropriate implementation approaches
- Monitor program effectiveness and recommend operational or strategic improvements to leadership
- Volunteer Leadership and Team Management Provide leadership and direction to the Outreach Area Team volunteers
- Exercise discretion in recruiting, selecting, training, and developing Area Team members and volunteers
- Coach and develop volunteer leaders to strengthen organizational capacity
- Delegate responsibilities and guide team leaders in execution of ministry initiatives
- Organizational Collaboration and Partner Support Advise churches and partner organizations regarding program implementation and ministry engagement opportunities
- Serve as a resource to partners regarding ministry models, outreach practices, and organizational programs
- Operational Administration Oversee operational processes supporting ministry initiatives and coordination functions delegated through the Outreach Area Team
- Analyze operational needs and determine appropriate allocations of time and organizational resources
- Support ministry logistics through oversight and direction
- Develop and manage the program budget
- Participate in domestic and international ministry programs as an organizational representative
- Collaborate and implement a logistics strategy for the Wheelchair Collection Program with Global Operations
- Other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor to support department and organizational needs
Qualifications:
- Must possess a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agree with the Joni and Friends statement of faith
- Desire to serve in a growing and dynamic Christian service ministry
- 3+ years of event planning, project management, and/or volunteer oversight required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Ability to lift 25 pounds; physically able to help set up at events
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple events and projects simultaneously
- Able to effectively recruit, select, equip and lead volunteers to assist in the execution of ministry programs and events
- Must be able to travel, domestically and internationally, and work evenings and weekends as needed
- Valid passport and driver’s license are required
- Able to work effectively with Joni and Friends’ service departments to leverage partnerships for ministry success
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent management skills, especially with volunteers
- Good interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written and the ability to effectively organize and prioritize a wide range of daily tasks with varied deadlines are necessary
- Must be detail oriented, committed to accuracy, and team player who is flexible and able to work independently
- Must have a strong sense of confidentiality
- Strong general computer skills are necessary along with a competent, working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook and the Internet
- Understanding of Christian ministry and specifically Joni and Friends is desirable
Physical Requirements:
This position involves both sedentary office work and occasional physical activity during and in preparation of onsite and offsite events. The employee must be able to sit for extended periods, operate a computer and other standard office equipment, and communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and through virtual platforms. During events, the role may require standing or walking for extended periods, bending, reaching, carrying materials, and setting up or breaking down event spaces. The employee must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull items such as boxes, signage, or supplies up to 25 pounds.
Work is primarily performed in an office setting but also includes offsite environments such as hotels, conference centers, and retreat facilities. Offsite work may involve varying temperatures, lighting, and noise levels, as well as periods of increased activity during event setup and execution. Employees are expected to maintain professionalism, safety awareness, and flexibility while adapting to different environments and schedules.

Compensation: $55,000 - $60,000, and it is an exempt position.
