About this role

At UniQuest we deliver embedded, tech-enabled services and solutions across the student journey, defining a ‘new’ normal for customer service in higher education. We are looking for someone who can bring a breadth of knowledge and experience, with innate curiosity, to our growing business, ensuring our solutions continue to meet the requirements of our partner base in a robust and scalable way. In turn, we offer a supportive and open work environment, with fantastic and ambitious colleagues, and training and development opportunities to help you in your growth in this important role.

As a Salesforce Admin & Developer, you’ll play a vital, hybrid role at UniQuest. Part administrator and part developer, you will help us design, build and run our Salesforce platform: gathering requirements, shaping solutions with a sound understanding of Salesforce architecture, and delivering them using declarative development and best practice. Salesforce is at the heart of the UniQuest platform and integral to the services we provide, and our multi-org estate is evolving towards a consolidated, regional architecture, so you will gain real exposure to solution design and release management. At the same time, you will be a key part of keeping the platform running day to day, supporting BAU activity such as user management, support tickets, and the form integrations and data flows that feed Salesforce.

We work in a modern, engineering-led way. Our metadata is source-controlled, our org setup and deployments are increasingly scripted, and we use AI to work faster and smarter. You should be comfortable, at least to a basic degree, using VS Code with the Salesforce CLI, GitHub and CumulusCI, and using AI assistants such as Claude to support analysis, build, testing and documentation. You don’t need to be an expert in all of these on day one, but you should be keen to learn and grow into our platform engineering practices.

As a member of our growing Technical Solutions Team you must be comfortable communicating, prioritising and managing your work across both BAU and project delivery. The ideal candidate will be happy liaising with stakeholders at all levels, with the ability to translate technical information into plain English, clearly explaining design options and their potential impact. As you will be working remotely most of the time you should be self-driven, proactive, detail oriented, inquisitive, analytical and resourceful. We regularly meet virtually as a team and collaborate throughout the day, but the ability to prioritise support tickets and complete tasks without constant supervision is essential.

Responsibilities:

This is a varied, business-facing role, with responsibilities across three areas:

Solution design and declarative development

· Gathering and refining requirements with internal stakeholders and translating them into well-designed, scalable Salesforce solutions

· Contributing to solution design and basic architecture decisions, including data model and object relationships, security and sharing model, and automation strategy

· Building declarative solutions using Flow (record-triggered, screen and scheduled), validation rules, formula fields, custom objects and fields, Lightning pages and Dynamic Forms, record types, approval processes and custom metadata

· Migrating legacy automation (Workflow Rules and Process Builder) to Flow in line with Salesforce best practice

· Configuring and supporting features across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and Experience Cloud, such as Omni-Channel, Email-to-Case, Digital Engagement and CTI

· Working alongside developers and managed service partners on changes that require Apex or Lightning Web Components, including reviewing and testing their work

Platform engineering

· Working with Salesforce metadata in VS Code using the Salesforce CLI, and managing changes through GitHub (branches, commits and pull requests)

· Using CumulusCI to support sandbox and scratch org setup, dependency management and repeatable deployments

· Supporting our release process across sandboxes and production, including deployment validation, testing and post-release checks

· Using AI tools such as Claude to accelerate work such as metadata analysis, drafting Flows and formulas, writing test scenarios and producing documentation, while critically reviewing everything it produces

· Preparing and maintaining technical and functional documentation, and helping to keep our platform standards up to date

BAU and support

· All aspects of user and licence management, including new user setup/deactivation, roles, profiles, permission sets and permission set groups, public groups, OWD and sharing rules

· Building, maintaining and troubleshooting form integrations using tools such as FormAssembly and Zapier

· Supporting integrations and data flows through our ETL/integration platform (SnapLogic), including monitoring, first-line troubleshooting and escalation

· Responding to support tickets from internal stakeholders, performing analysis, information gathering, troubleshooting, fixes and escalations while communicating via instant messaging platforms or virtual calls

· Maintaining reports, dashboards and data quality, and carrying out routine data loads

· Sharing Salesforce expertise with the team and supporting colleagues through advanced troubleshooting

Qualifications:

· Strong Salesforce product knowledge and at least 2+ years’ hands-on Salesforce experience, covering both administration and declarative development (particularly Flow)

· Salesforce Certified Administrator and/or Platform App Builder, or demonstrable proactive learning via Trailhead, training courses or personal projects

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required:

· Inquisitive, analytical and resourceful

· Self-driven with the ability to prioritise your own tasks across BAU and project work

· Able to liaise with stakeholders at all levels and explain technical options in plain English

· An excellent verbal and written communicator

· Collaborative, supportive and responsive

· Adept at performing technical and detail oriented tasks

· Comfortable working without direct supervision

· A quick and proactive learner

· Solid experience delivering solutions with declarative tools such as Flow, Validation Rules, Formula Fields, Objects and Fields, Lightning Pages, Record Types, Permission Sets, Sharing, Approvals, Reports and Dashboards

· A working understanding of core Salesforce architecture concepts, including data modelling, the security and sharing model, governor limits, and when to use declarative versus code-based solutions

· Basic working knowledge of VS Code with the Salesforce CLI, Git/GitHub and CumulusCI

· Comfortable using AI assistants such as Claude as part of everyday work, with the judgement to check and validate their output

· Some experience building or supporting forms and integrations using tools such as FormAssembly or Zapier

Desirable:

· Salesforce Platform Developer I, or the ability to read and understand Apex, SOQL and Lightning Web Components

· Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (for example GitHub Actions), scratch orgs or unlocked packages

· Familiarity with ETL/integration platforms such as SnapLogic, and with data loading tools

· Experience with Service Cloud features such as Omni-Channel, Email-to-Case, Digital Engagement or CTI

· Experience working in multi-org environments or on org consolidation and migration projects

· Knowledge of Marketing Cloud

· Previous experience in Higher Education, Recruitment or Admissions

What we offer:

You can expect to join a rapidly growing company and a team of friendly and experienced Salesforce professionals. You will gain experience working on a challenging and evolving multi-org Salesforce estate, with significant exposure to a wide variety of Salesforce products such as Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Omni-Channel, Digital Engagement and Marketing Cloud. You will also build hands-on experience with modern platform engineering practices, including source control, CumulusCI and AI-assisted development.
