About this role

The Parts Outside Sales position is responsible for developing, maintaining, and growing customer relationships within an assigned territory. This role focuses on driving parts sales through proactive customer engagement, regular on-site visits, and consistent follow-up on quotes, orders, and service needs. The Parts Outside Sales employees serve as a key link between customers and the Parts Department, ensuring timely product availability, competitive solutions, and a high level of customer satisfaction. This position is expected to expand market share by identifying new business opportunities, strengthening existing accounts, and supporting overall profitability of the Parts Department.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

- Sales and Customer Development

Develop and maintain relationships with existing customers through regular in-person visits and communication

- Prospect and secure new business within assigned territory

- Prepare and secure new business within assigned territory

- Follow up on quotes and opportunities to secure orders and grow sales

- Promote new products, programs, and services to customers

- Order Management and Fulfillment

Generate and process customer orders accurately and in a timely manner

- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure order accuracy and timely delivery

- Assist in pulling parts or coordinating fulfillment when necessary

- Process returns, credits, and warranty-related items in accordance with Company procedures

- Ensure proper documentation and follow-up on all transactions

- Territory Management and Reporting

Maintain a structured call schedule to maximize coverage and efficiency within assigned territory

- Submit activity reports, call logs, and sales updates as required by management

- Develop and maintain a territory sales plan and forecast

- Monitor customer buying patterns and identify growth opportunities

- Track and communicate competitive activity and market conditions

- Customer Support and Operations

Resolve customer concerns and issues promptly to maintain satisfaction and loyalty

- Deliver parts to customers as needed and support delivery logistics

- Collect payments on COD accounts and ensure proper handling of funds

- Utilize CRM and mobile tools to manage customer interactions and sales activities

- Maintain a professional appearance and represent the Company positively in all interactions

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below are representative of those required. This position operates in both an office and field environment, with frequent customer interaction, extensive driving, and regular exposure to warehouse and shop environment. Education

- High school diploma or GED required

- Intermediate to advanced computer skills with fundamental computer operations, spreadsheets, database, e-mail, and CRM software

- Prior sales experience preferred

- Two years of experience in the heavy-duty truck or related parts industry preferred

Skills Required

- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business materials, technical documents, and parts catalogs

- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with customers, vendors, and internal teams

- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills

- Basic mathematical ability including calculating discounts, percentages, and pricing structures

- Effective listening skills with the ability to understand customer needs and respond appropriately

- Problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve customer concerns in a timely manner

- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and work independently in the field

- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through

- Ability to adapt to changing customer needs, market conditions, and business priorities

- Valid driver's licenses and ability to meet Company insurability requirements

Travel

- Frequent travel within assigned territory required (majority of time spent in the field)

- Occasional overnight travel may be required for training, customer visits, or Company events
