Your opportunity:

The International Co-op Officer will contribute to the expansion of program offerings from the Engineering Career Centre (ECC). This inaugural role will advance the development of international experiences for students in the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering who are registered in undergraduate and graduate co-op programming. The role will be a part of a progressive and collaborative department, and work together with approximately 30 other experiential education professionals in the ECC.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the International Co-op Officer is responsible for the development and facilitation of international co-op work terms for the PEY (Professional Experience Year) Co-op program. Leveraging in-depth knowledge of the experiential learning environment and engineering industry, the incumbent develops and manages strategic partnerships with international organizations, promotes the program, and negotiates co-op agreements. In support of these activities, the International Co-op Officer coordinates and delivers information sessions and events while establishing and maintaining a network of industry professionals and prospective employers.

The International Co-op Officer works to maximize the student experiential learning experience from start to finish by developing career-related programming, facilitating co-op work terms, and implementing feedback mechanisms to support continuous program improvement. The incumbent also provides individual coaching, guidance, and support to students on work term and career development matters. This role will work as a key collaborator with other Engineering Career Centre staff, faculty members involved with international exchanges as they relate to international co-op work terms, and with other internal University contacts in the Experiential Learning space.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance

- Conducting detailed labour market analysis to inform program and partnership development

- Promoting programs at recruitment events

- Promoting programming, student needs and interests to employers and industry contacts

- Analyzing and recommending actions to increase employers' visibility

- Developing plans that support recruitment strategies

- Implementing plans that support the development of work-integrated learning opportunities for students

- Promoting employer jobs and engagement on campus withstudents

Essential Qualifications:

- Master's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.

- Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience in an academic experiential learning environment or equivalent experience.

- Experience in preparing business development plans.

- Demonstrated success developing and growing domestic and international employer partnerships that result in new co-op, internship, or experiential learning opportunities through proactive outreach, engagement, and relationship building.

- Minimum two years of experience working directly with industry partners to facilitate co-op and other work-integrated learning placements through full recruitment and work-term cycles, including experience supporting international co-op/work-integrated learning placements.

- Experience facilitating highly engaging presentations, group sessions, and workshops.

- Professional experience advising students on relevant career-related matters.

- Experience developing, promoting and leading career-related programs, events and workshops.

- Relevant experience in the administration and interpretation of academic policies and procedures.

- Experience in data analysis and preparing comprehensive reports and summaries to guide managerial planning and operations.

- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Programs (including but not limited to Teams, MS Bookings, PPT, MSForms, Excel and Word) or equivalent systems.

- Proficient in the use of Learning Management Systems (e.g Moodle, Canvas) and Customer Relationship Management tools (e.g Orbis, Symplicity).

- Demonstrated ability to build and nurture strong professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

- Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills, with the proven ability to explain complex processes to a wide range of audiences.

- Proven ability to organize, prioritize, manage and meet multiple competing deadlines with high flexibility, accuracy and attention to detail.

- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with the demonstrated capability to effectively work independently, within a team, and under direction.

- Proven ability to practice strong professionalism, tact, discretion, initiative, confidentiality, and sound judgment.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 14 -- $95,344 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $121,932. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
