Maintenance Mechanic – JLL

What this job involves:

The Maintenance Mechanic provides critical electrical and mechanical support across assigned facilities, ensuring buildings remain safe, functional, and operating at peak performance. This versatile role combines technical expertise with hands-on problem-solving—from low/medium voltage power systems and HVAC controls to mechanical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and emergency response. You'll work independently and collaboratively to maintain exceptional facility standards, manage vendor relationships, and deliver responsive service that supports JLL's commitment to operational excellence.

This position operates under the International Union of Operating Engineers and offers the opportunity to apply diverse trade skills in a dynamic commercial environment.

What your day-to-day will look like:

- Perform electrical and mechanical maintenance including lighting systems, ballast replacement, and low/medium voltage power support
- Troubleshoot and maintain HVAC systems, controls, and mechanical equipment while executing preventive maintenance schedules
- Respond to emergency repairs and complete general maintenance tasks including carpentry, painting, drywall patching, and minor plumbing repairs
- Support office operations by installing furniture systems, hanging pictures, keyboard tray installation, and repairing office furniture
- Move office furniture, machinery, equipment, and materials as requested while maintaining organized work order documentation
- Coordinate with vendors and assist operations team members in building equipment repair and maintenance activities
- Maintain facility grounds, comply with hazardous materials storage and disposal policies, and ensure a clean, safe work environment

Required Qualifications:

- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of working experience in general building repair and maintenance, including basic plumbing and electrical work
- Valid state driver's license in good standing
- Physical ability to lift minimum 80 lbs, use ladders up to 30 ft, work from heights, and climb ladders with 300-lb weight limit while carrying 20-lb tool bag
- Excellent English communication skills (oral and written) with ability to maintain organized work records
- Ability to work outdoors, in mechanical/equipment rooms, and in extreme weather conditions with regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and heavy equipment
- Regular and predictable attendance to support team and client needs

Preferred Qualifications:

- Completion of applicable technical training program or vocational certification
- Experience with HVAC controls and building automation systems
- Knowledge of locksmith work and specialized maintenance tasks
- Experience working in commercial facility environments
- OSHA safety training or certifications
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)

Location: Lansing, MI

Work Shift: 3rd Shift, 10:00pm - 6:30am, Tuesday - Saturday

Salary/Comp: $31.30 Hourly
