Who are we:
The Live Events Publishing team is part of Prime Video Sports & Linear org, responsible for the end-to-end systems that bring live sports content to customers. We are the owner, steward, and authority responsible for the sports catalog that powers the live sports experience for Prime Video customers worldwide. We build the automation, tooling, and AI-powered capabilities that enable operators and systems to publish content quickly and accurately for events like NBA, Fox Sports, and other major live programming. Our Bangalore team is a growing engineering hub, and this role is central to scaling our impact.

About the role: As a Software Development Manager on the LEP team, you will lead a team of engineers building and operating the suite of services that fulfill our vision: the world's richest, most reliable, and lowest-latency catalog — enabling sports fans worldwide to discover, purchase, and consume sports content in any format, on any device. You will set the technical direction, hire and grow engineers, and drive the bar for all phases of the software development lifecycle.

We are looking for a highly talented Software Development Manager to help build fast, scalable, robust systems to crystallize and execute this vision. The successful candidate is expected to be a hands-on technical manager who sets a high bar for all phases of the software development lifecycle, while hiring, coaching, developing, and growing a team of engineers. We seek someone with an insatiable curiosity and appetite for learning, who can build and nurture an AI-native engineering team capable of leveraging emerging AI technologies in our solutions. Key job responsibilities
Lead and grow a team of software engineers, owning their project assignments, performance coaching, and career development while building a strong hiring pipeline
Define and communicate your team's roadmap and technical strategy to management, principal stakeholders, and partner teams, aligning priorities with customer needs
Facilitate systems design, architecture, and scaling discussions, making sound trade-offs across reliability, latency, and maintainability for the live sports catalog
Partner with product management and peer engineering managers to scope work, estimate effort, and deliver high-quality software that improves the live sports viewing experience worldwide
Champion operational excellence by establishing metrics, monitoring practices, and automation that keep your team's services healthy and your customers well-served

A day in the life
You start by syncing with product and partner engineering leads to scope upcoming work or unblock in-flight deliveries. Mid-morning you might review a design document with your engineers, pressure-testing assumptions around latency and scale for a new publishing workflow. After lunch you check operational dashboards, then shift to a one-on-one where you coach a team member through a promotion plan. Later you contribute to your team's technical strategy, weighing customer impact against engineering cost before wrapping up with a status update to stakeholders.

The team builds and operates the suite of services behind our vision to be the world's richest, most reliable, and lowest-latency catalog — enabling sports fans to discover, purchase, and consume sports content on any device.

Basic Qualifications

- 8+ years of engineering experience
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
