About this role
SAIC is seeking an Engineering (mechanical assembly and testing) Technician(s) to perform inspections, upgrades, repair and maintenance of electro-mechanical equipment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Follow locally generated procedures, engineering drawing requirements, and US Navy maintenance instructions to:
Disassemble equipment
- Evaluate, inspect, and clean sub-components
- Perform electrical and mechanical testing of equipment and/or sub-components
- Re-Assemble equipment
- Prepare and pack equipment into wood shipping crates
- Candidate will be expected to follow process documents and common shop processes to perform work tasking but also be able to adapt and overcome when appropriate
- Work week is: Monday-Friday, 40 hour week, 8 hours per day, 7am to 3:30pm. No weekends. No overtime. No afternoon shift.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- AA Degree in related discipline; Or, High School and up to two (2) years of related experience with assembly and/or testing.
- Experience with basic hand tools, and basic air-powered and battery powered tools
- Basic computer skills
- Ideal candidate is self-motivated, with attention to quality and detail, with good interpersonal skills to work together with a small team of similarly skilled technicians
- Physical Abilities Must be able to lift 30 pounds, occasionally (once per day)
- Working primarily at a workbench, but some tasking requires standing and moving around equipment on a workbench or work cart.
- Some exposure to basic HAZMAT (lubricants, adhesives, etc) with appropriate PPE
- Candidate must pass a basic background check to ensure: No felony convictions, and no history of drug or alcohol abuse
Desired Education and Experience:
- Aircraft component repair experience
- Automotive (or similar) component repair experience
- Three years of relevant working experience
- Experience with measurement tools, including calipers and micrometers
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings or technical manuals
- Forklift driving experience
- Sand blasting experience
- Inventory management experience
