Job Summary: The Cost Engineer will report to the Chief Cost Estimator and is responsible for working with the Design teams to provide Independent Government Estimates from conceptual design through final design documents. All work will be done in Mii and RS Means estimating software.

Key Tasks
• Review project plans and specifications.
• Utilize onscreen style take off software to define all work whether shown or intended options.
• Work with design consultants to understand and include MEP systems that will be included and understand ranges of the scopes.
• Prepare project pricing narrative.
•  Develop conceptual budgets from limited information
• Review general conditions, schedules, scopes of work, site logistics, and related exhibits
• Track and communicate construction and material cost trends
• Analyze alternate methods and value‑engineering options
• Build strong relationships with clients and design teams.
•  Price change impacts as needed

Education and Training Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree or 5-10 years of industry experience.
- 3–5 years Mii estimating experience on design projects or Gordian pricing for Job Order Contracts
- MII2 software experience preferred but not required if experience is in RS Means.
Knowledge, Skill, and Competency Requirements :
• Proficiency with estimating software (SAGE, RS Means, Bluebeam, ONSCREEN Takeoff)
• Strong math and computer skills; proficient in MS Office
• Ability to understand estimating software and to be able to transition to all online platforms as they develop for use
• Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines
• Willingness to follow corporate policies.
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to identify discrepancies
• Security clearance preferred

Other:
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.
- Valid driver’s license and insurance.
- Some travel will be required to military bases to attend design meetings for design and pricing reviews. Travel will be limited but will be required. Most meetings that will be required are approximately 2 days in length.
