Junior Residential Construction Estimator

Ultimate Renovations is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Residential Construction Estimator to join our team.

For over 45 years, Ultimate Renovations has specialized in high-end residential renovations throughout Calgary and surrounding areas. Our projects range from major interior renovations and additions to complete home transformations and custom residential work.

As a Junior Residential Construction Estimator, you will work closely with our Estimating, Sales, Design and Production teams to help develop accurate construction budgets and prepare projects for construction.

This is a great opportunity for someone with residential construction knowledge who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems and learning how complex renovation projects come together. The successful candidate will be supported by an experienced team and given the opportunity to take on more estimating responsibility as their knowledge and experience grow.

What You’ll Do

- Assist with preparing detailed construction estimates and project budgets for residential renovations.

- Review drawings, specifications and project information to understand the required scope of work.

- Complete material and labour takeoffs.

- Request and review pricing from trade partners and suppliers.

- Help identify scope gaps, missing information and potential cost considerations during the estimating process.

- Assist with preparing project specifications and scopes of work.

- Support the pricing of change orders and project revisions.

- Review job-cost information and completed projects to help improve future estimating accuracy.

- Maintain estimating templates, pricing information and cost databases.

- Communicate with trades, suppliers, designers and internal team members to clarify project requirements.

- Learn and develop a strong understanding of residential renovation construction methods, sequencing and costs.

- Help improve estimating systems and processes as the role develops.

What We’re Looking For

- Some previous experience in residential construction, estimating, project coordination, construction management or a related role.

- A basic understanding of residential construction methods, materials and sequencing.

- Renovation experience is considered an asset.

- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.

- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

- Ability to stay organized and manage multiple priorities.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Comfortable working with contractors, suppliers and internal team members.

- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and an ability to learn estimating and construction software.

- Post-secondary education in construction management, engineering technology, estimating, business or a related field is considered an asset.
