About this role
The Avon is a lakeshore venue above the Blessington Lakes, looking out over the Wicklow Mountains. On one site we run event spaces and function rooms, Docker’s Bar, a Food Court with Lakeshore Doughboys
Pizzeria, and Walker’s Café. We also have an Activity Centre, on-site sauna and wellness operators, three bedroom townhouses, and a gateway to the Blessington Greenway with bike hire.
From christenings and communions to corporate team days and evening parties, we host a wide range of events all year round. We’re looking for an experienced Hospitality Manager to lead the whole operation and help us grow.
The role
You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of The Avon’s hospitality offering, making sure every guest, from a family celebration to a corporate group, gets an excellent experience.
Key responsibilities
Manage all events and functions across our five spaces (Russborough Room, The Library Room, Docker’s Bar, The Studio and The Boardroom), from first enquiry to the final bill.
Oversee food and beverage across the bar, café, Food Court and pizzeria, working closely with the kitchen on menus, pricing and quality.
Build packages that combine rooms, catering, activities, sauna sessions and accommodation, especially for corporate and group bookings.
Coordinate with the Activity Centre, sauna and wellness operators, and accommodation teams so everything runs smoothly on site.
Act as a keyholder, taking responsibility for opening and closing the site, alarms and security.
Recruit, train, roster and lead a team across front of house, bar and events.
Submit timesheets and payroll information accurately and on time.
Manage the fair distribution of tips and gratuities in line with the Payment of Wages (Tips and Gratuities) Act.
Oversee daily cash-ups across all outlets, including till floats, variances and secure cash handling. Prepare and reconcile bank lodgements, making sure takings match EPOS reports.
Reconcile credit and debit card terminal reports against EPOS and bank statements, and investigate any discrepancies. Track event deposits, balances and outstanding payments. Manage petty cash and process supplier invoices for payment.
Run regular stocktakes and report on stock variances and gross margins. Liaise weekly with our accountant, providing sales, cash, card and payroll information.
Produce weekly and monthly reports on sales, costs and labour for the owners.
Drive sales and bookings through enquiries, show-rounds, social media and local partnerships. Manage budgets, margins and supplier relationships.
Ensure full compliance with food safety (HACCP), licensing, and health and safety requirements.
About you
3–5 years’ experience in a hospitality management role, ideally covering events, functions or a multioutlet venue.
Proven experience with cash-ups, lodgements and credit card reconciliation in a hospitality setting.
Confident using EPOS systems and booking software, with good Excel skills.
A strong commercial sense, with an understanding of labour costing, gross profit margins and basic VAT for hospitality.
High attention to detail and a strong sense of accountability for cash and stock.
A proven track record of leading and motivating teams. Excellent organisation and communication skills, calm under pressure on busy event days.
A hands-on, guest-first attitude. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays as the business requires.
HACCP training and a full driving licence are desirable. Given our location, having your own transport is an advantage
