Reporting to the Business Director, you will work directly with department heads to turn improvement opportunities into practical change across the business

Huxley Bertram Engineering designs and builds bespoke machinery and automated equipment, enabling clients in major sectors—including pharmaceutical, nuclear and other advanced technology industries—to transform their manufacturing, research and products.

We have ongoing investment in reporting, automation, business systems and digital capability. We are now looking for an ambitious Digital Transformation Specialist to help develop and embed practical digital solutions across the business.

This is a hands-on business improvement role, not an IT support position. You will work with department heads to understand challenges, improve processes and build solutions using systems, data and automation.

You will develop our growing portfolio of Power Apps, Power Automate workflows, Power BI dashboards, SharePoint applications, integrations and AI-enabled tools.

The Opportunity

You will combine business analysis, stakeholder engagement and hands-on solution development, taking improvement opportunities from initial idea through to implementation and helping employees adopt new tools and ways of working.

The role will suit someone with several years' relevant experience who is ready to broaden their responsibilities and develop towards digital transformation management.

What You'll Do

- Work with department heads to identify problems and improvement opportunities.
- Understand processes, requirements and information flows.
- Design, build and implement practical digital solutions.
- Develop Power Apps, Power Automate workflows and Power BI reporting.
- Improve dashboards, workflow automation, document generation and business applications.
- Help connect information across Opera, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, ClickUp, Harvest and other systems.
- Support users through training, guidance and documentation.
- Contribute to the digital improvement roadmap and agreed priorities.
- Support activities involving external IT, cybersecurity and digital technology providers.
- Contribute to data governance, information security and Cyber Essentials Plus activities.
- Explore practical applications of AI, automation and emerging technologies.

What We're Looking For

You may currently work in digital transformation, business systems, business analysis, process improvement or automation. Above all, you will enjoy solving business problems through people, processes, systems and data.

- Typically three or more years' relevant experience.
- Experience turning business requirements into implemented solutions.
- Practical experience with Microsoft 365 and at least one of Power Apps, Power Automate or Power BI, with the interest and ability to develop across the wider Power Platform.
- An understanding of business processes, information flows and data.
- The confidence to work directly with department heads and employees across different functions.
- Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder skills.
- A practical, collaborative and delivery-focused approach.
- The ambition and potential to grow into a broader digital leadership role.

Experience of SharePoint, systems integration, APIs, data management or engineering and manufacturing environments would be useful, but is not essential.

Location

Our main office and manufacturing facilities are in Waterbeach, near Cambridge, with convenient access by cycle, rail and road. Waterbeach railway station provides direct connections to Cambridge and Ely, and the site is close to the A10.

The role is expected to be predominantly office-based to support close collaboration across the business, although some flexibility may be considered.
