Summer Intern, Human Capital and Learning

ICF is seeking a motivated summer intern to join our Human Capital and Learning portfolio. The intern will support consulting teams that help clients strengthen their workforces, improve organizational effectiveness, and enhance employee learning and performance.

This internship will provide exposure to human capital consulting, organizational development, workforce research, learning and development, and data-informed decision-making. Working under the guidance of experienced team members, the intern will contribute to client projects, internal initiatives, and business development activities while building foundational consulting and professional skills.

This is an entry-level, 10-week, full-time internship expected to begin in June and end in August. This role can be remote from DC, Maryland or VA with occasional travel to the Reston, VA office. At this time, we are unable to provide housing or relocation assistance for this position.

The ideal candidate is curious, dependable, detail-oriented, and interested in applying academic knowledge to real-world workforce and organizational challenges.

Key Responsibilities

The summer intern may support activities such as:

- Conducting and reviewing background research and literature reviews related to human capital, employee learning, organizational development, workforce trends, and related topics.

- Supporting qualitative and quantitative data collection activities, such as surveys, interviews, focus groups, pilot tests, and environmental scans.

- Assisting with the development and formatting of presentations, reports, guidebooks, training materials, job aids, and communication products.

- Supporting quality assurance reviews to help ensure deliverables are accurate, consistent, professionally formatted, and free of errors.

- Participating in internal and client-facing project meetings, taking notes, and helping track decisions and follow-up activities.

- Collaborating with team members across multiple projects and contributing to a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented work environment.

- Supporting proposal development, business development research, or internal practice-building activities, as needed.

- Learning and applying consulting methods, tools, technologies, and human-centered approaches to address client needs.

Basic Qualifications

- By start date, a minimum of 60 completed college-level credit hours in psychology, management, communications, or a related field.

- Due to federal contract requirements, United States Citizenship or Permanent Work Authorization is required.

Preferred Qualifications

- Demonstrated interest in human capital, organizational development, employee learning, workforce research, talent management, or consulting.

- Experience using Microsoft Office applications and statistical or data visualization tools.

- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing.

- Previous internship, employment, volunteer, research, or academic project experience related to human resources, learning, organizational development, research, communications, consulting, or public service.

- Experience conducting academic research, reviewing literature, or synthesizing information from multiple sources.

- Experience preparing presentations, written reports, learning materials, or other professional or academic products.

- Interest in supporting federal government clients and learning about the federal consulting environment.

- Curiosity about new technologies and willingness to learn unfamiliar tools and methods.

- Ability to balance multiple assignments in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is :
$34,564.00 - $58,758.00
