Senior Manager, Well-Managed, QA & Program Execution

This role serves as a key operational leader and execution manager for the Ecosystem Risk & Integrity organization. Designed to translate strategic vision into tactical operational execution, this leader ensures the organization remains "Well Managed" while managing day-to-day strategic priorities, executive reporting, and cross-functional alignment across teams. Additionally, this role leads the continuous improvement agenda by managing the execution of a QA/QC program and coordinating necessary governance and reporting to illustrate overall functional health.

Responsibilities

Strategic Execution & Business Operations

- Strategy & OKR Execution: Partner with Ecosystem Risk leadership to track, cascade, and execute the multi-year strategic roadmap and key objectives/OKRs. Support leaders in managing and navigating operational issues across business priorities and objectives.
- Governance & Cadence Management: Facilitate leadership forums, Steering Committees, Monthly Business Reviews (MBR), and other reviews across the organization. Prepare high-integrity agendas and compelling materials that support effective decision-making and alignment.
- Portfolio & Intake Execution: Manage the strategic intake process for new initiatives and track progress against committed deliverables and objectives. Partner closely with centralized CoS & PMO teams.

Well Managed & Operational Rigor

- Control Framework Support: Support the maturation of the first-line (1LOD) risk control environment, maintaining strict adherence to Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) standards, and risk taxonomy frameworks.
- Audit & Exam Coordination: Coordinate internal audits and regulatory exams, ensuring clear documentation, data integrity, and resolution of audit items. Partner closely with centralized Reg Risk and Governance teams.
- Workforce Automation & Process Optimization: Execute initiatives to automate and optimize manual processes through RPA, AI, or other toolsets. Partner with tech and product teams to implement data-driven solutions.
- Issues Management & QA/QC Execution: Manage Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) mechanisms and remediation workflows across the Ecosystem Risk & Integrity team.

Executive Communications, Culture, & Oversight

- Executive Communications: Support key communication strategies, drafting executive updates, committee presentations, and organizational messaging.
- Culture Carrier & Associate Engagement: Drive associate engagement initiatives and help to create a high-performing "People First" team environment.
- Horizontal Connectivity: Build strong collaborative bridges across Global Payment Network (GPN) business partners, scheme leaders, and 2nd Line Risk partners (CFRM/ORM).
- Program Execution & Tracking: Manage the tracking and delivery of Ecosystem Security, Integrity, and Payment Success programs. Produce reporting artifacts and ensure relevant program attributes flow across reporting lines.

Key Areas of Focus

- Operational Cadence & Strategy Alignment: Reviewing OKR progress dashboards and strategic intake pipelines for new Ecosystem Risk initiatives. Facilitate or prepare high-integrity agendas and materials for upcoming leadership forums, Steering Committees, or Monthly Business Reviews (MBR) to drive cross-functional alignment.
- Well-Managed Governance & QA Oversight: Partner with 1LOD risk teams to review the control environment, check QA/QC remediation workflows, and align on ERM and RCSA standards. Coordinate ongoing internal audit and regulatory exam documentation needs while syncing with tech and product partners on process automation efforts (e.g., RPA/AI).
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Executive Reporting: Draft executive updates and committee communications. Connect horizontally with GPN business partners, scheme leaders, and 2nd Line Risk partners (CFRM/ORM) to ensure program delivery, resolve operational blockers, and foster associate engagement.

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree or military experience

- At least 6 years of experience in project management, process management, or risk management
- At least 4 years of experience in operations management or financial services
- At least 2 years of experience in people management or leading cross-functional teams
- At least 2 years of experience within financial services or a regulated environment

Preferred Qualifications

- At least 7 years of project management experience leading cross-functional projects and programs in risk management
- At least 7 years of financial services risk management experience
- PMP Certification or Master's Certificate of Project Management (CPM)
- Experience setting operational direction, managing project expectations, and leading cross-functional teams

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Chicago, IL: $161,500 - $184,300 for Sr. Risk Manager
McLean, VA: $177,700 - $202,800 for Sr. Risk Manager
New York, NY: $193,800 - $221,200 for Sr. Risk Manager
Riverwoods, IL: $161,500 - $184,300 for Sr. Risk Manager

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
