Quality Systems Engineer

Position Overview
Nextpower is seeking a Quality Systems Engineer to support and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS), manufacturing documentation, engineering change control, and quality compliance activities. This role will help ensure quality documentation, procedures, records, and systems remain accurate, controlled, compliant, and aligned with manufacturing and business requirements.
The Quality Systems Engineer will work independently across Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to maintain quality systems, resolve documentation and compliance issues, and support continuous improvement of quality processes. The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements, document control practices, and quality systems within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and support the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with internal requirements and applicable quality standards.
- Manage engineering and manufacturing documentation, including specifications, procedures, work instructions, forms, and quality records.
- Administer document control processes to ensure documents are appropriately reviewed, approved, released, revised, and archived.
- Manage revision control and support implementation of engineering changes and manufacturing documentation updates .
- Maintain accurate and complete quality records in accordance with established retention and compliance requirements.
- Support internal and external ISO 9001 audits , including audit preparation, documentation retrieval, evidence collection, and follow-up activities.
- Identify documentation and quality-system gaps and partner with stakeholders to develop and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Maintain calibration records and support processes for ensuring measurement and test equipment remains appropriately calibrated and documented.
- Support training processes and records associated with quality procedures, manufacturing documentation, and controlled processes.
- Maintain manufacturing procedures and work with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure documentation reflects current approved processes.
- Administer and maintain electronic document control and quality systems, ensuring data accuracy, accessibility, and appropriate revision control.
- Support quality-system metrics, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Evaluate quality-system and documentation issues, determine appropriate solutions, and escalate risks when necessary.
- Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on document control, QMS requirements, and established quality procedures.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to improve the effectiveness, consistency, and compliance of quality-system processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering , or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of related experience in quality systems, quality engineering, manufacturing quality, document control, or a related field; or 3+ years with a Master’s degree; or equivalent experience.
- Working knowledge and practical experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems .
- Experience managing controlled documentation, engineering changes, revision control, and quality records.
- Experience supporting internal or external quality-system audits.
- Experience working with PLM, ERP, MES, QMS, or similar enterprise systems .
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and associated quality documentation requirements.
- Strong organizational skills with demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently evaluate issues and determine appropriate actions.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and other functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within a manufacturing, electronics, electromechanical, power electronics, renewable energy, or similar technical environment.
- Experience administering electronic document management or quality management systems.
- Experience supporting engineering change control processes within a manufacturing organization.
- Familiarity with calibration systems, training records, nonconformance processes, CAPA, and audit management.
- Experience identifying and implementing improvements to QMS and document-control processes.
