About this role

Description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Strategic Planning Lead to drive strategic Go-to-Market (GTM) execution across two high-impact initiatives within the Worldwide Public Sector (WWPS) Sales organization. This role sits at the intersection of AWS's strategic enterprise account growth initiative and the Prioritized Growth Systems framework, operating as the connective tissue between worldwide strategy and field-level sales execution.

The successful candidate will split their focus equally between two critical workstreams:

Strategic Account Operations: Serving as the operational backbone for WWPS's enterprise strategic account initiative, ensuring alignment between worldwide strategy and regional execution. This includes managing cadences with Geo leadership, preparing executive-level reporting, monitoring KPIs, facilitating cross-functional coordination, and driving the deployment of the strategic account operating model within WWPS.

Mission Systems & Growth Systems GTM Operations: Supporting the design and execution of WWPS's Prioritized Growth Systems framework, a unified strategic workload mechanism providing sales teams with operational infrastructure, industry intelligence, and strategic support to systematically identify and pursue the highest-impact public sector mission system opportunities.

This role requires someone who can navigate organizational complexity, influence without direct authority, and operate effectively across multiple stakeholder groups spanning sales, GTM, industry specialists, partnerships, enablement, and executive leadership.

Key job responsibilities
Serve as the operational point of contact for WWPS Geo leadership, account teams, and cross-functional partners across both strategic account and mission systems workstreams, ensuring seamless coordination between worldwide strategy and field execution

Collaborate with Geo GTM, sales leaders, and industry GTM leaders (Healthcare, Education, Government, Partners) to develop and execute localized GTM plans, aligning on priorities, investments, resource deployment, and use case patterns

Provide inputs, strategic context, and WWPS-specific insights to support Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs), 2x2 documents, and other key initiative reviews led by the Geo Execution team

Identify trends and surface risks from KPIs, pipeline data, and opportunity metrics to inform Geo leadership decision-making and prioritize customer lists

Quantify opportunity landscape by industry use case, evaluate average opportunity sizing, and validate data findings with FSO leaders and sales stakeholders to inform GTM strategy

Facilitate regular cadences with Geo teams, the worldwide strategic accounts organization, and Growth Systems stakeholders to inform strategy updates and enable best practice sharing

Oversee the deployment and effective utilization of strategic account and Growth Systems operating model components within WWPS, ensuring mechanisms are integrated into existing sales motions

Support the development and maintenance of tooling including data pipelines, dashboards, and SFDC strategic workload features for pipeline visibility and taxonomy tracking

Manage stakeholder engagement across multiple WWPS verticals, coordinating between Sales Leaders, GTM Leaders, FSO, Enablement, Marketing, Capture, and Partnership functions

Drive cross-functional coordination and issue resolution, mapping mechanisms, roles, and responsibilities across enabling teams

Continuously seek opportunities to streamline processes, build mechanisms, improve efficiency, and scale initiative execution across Plan, Build, Implement, and Scale phases

A day in the life
You start your morning reviewing strategic account performance dashboards and triaging escalations from Geo account teams, then pivot to preparing a monthly business review narrative that synthesizes pipeline health across priority accounts. After a working session with industry leaders to validate use case patterns against pipeline data, you facilitate a cross-functional sync aligning with partner teams. Your afternoon involves updating heat maps to reflect new demand signals, followed by a cadence call with the strategic accounts team to share execution updates and surface emerging best practices. No two days look alike, but the throughline is connecting strategic intent to operational reality across the organization.

About the team
The WWPS Strategy, Business Operations (SSBO) team enables the Worldwide Public Sector sales organization to operate at scale. The Strategic Planning & Insights (SP&I) team within SSBO designs and operationalizes the programs, mechanisms, and data infrastructure that help WWPS sales teams focus on the highest-impact opportunities. We work across Healthcare, Education, Government, National Security, and Nonprofit verticals, partnering with sales leadership, industry specialists, and cross-functional teams to translate strategy into field execution.
