Production Line Assistant

Job Overview

The Production Line Assistant is a hands-on, multi-skilled role supporting daily manufacturing operations through machine operation, material handling, and basic equipment maintenance. This position assists the Production Manager with production needs while serving as first-line support for minor mechanical issues, preventive maintenance, line setup, and changeovers. The role requires mechanical aptitude, forklift operation, heavy lifting, and flexibility to work across production based on operational needs.

Responsibilities

- Operate production equipment including fillers, cappers, tippers, marble droppers, valve droppers, and can crimpers.
- Assist with line setup, product changeovers, equipment adjustments, shutdowns, and turnovers.
- Perform basic preventive maintenance, equipment inspections, lubrication, cleaning, and minor mechanical repairs within established procedures.
- Troubleshoot common equipment issues and assist Maintenance with diagnosing and repairing production equipment.
- Identify equipment wear, damage, or recurring issues and escalate repairs requiring advanced maintenance support.
- Stage, move, and replenish raw materials, components, pallets, and finished goods.
- Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand tools, power tools, and other production equipment.
- Read and follow production schedules, work orders, and product specifications.
- Perform routine quality checks and report product, material, or equipment issues.
- Support the Production Manager with daily production needs, special projects, and operational tasks.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety, PPE, and chemical-handling procedures.

Requirements

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

- Manufacturing, machine operation, maintenance, or mechanical experience preferred.

- Strong mechanical aptitude with basic troubleshooting and equipment repair skills.

- Experience using hand and power tools safely.

- Forklift experience required; certification preferred.

- Basic math, reading, and comprehension skills.

- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to follow instructions.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across Production and Maintenance.

- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more and perform repetitive physical work throughout the shift.

- Flexibility to work overtime or adjusted hours based on production needs.
